Hi All
I am probably not see the obvious here but .,,,,
When in LR and I have an image in landscape and I want to crop it portrait - I choose 8x10 but it is in landscape too - how do I change that to a portrait crop 8x10
Cheers.

| Grab a corner and drag it left or right. Once you hit midway it should snap to Portrait. |

| Yeah... Keep stuffing around with the drag on the crop... It's FAR from obvious but at some point will snap the other way. |

Or specify 10x8, reversing the order of the numbers often differentiates? But I don't use LR.

Once in crop mode, make sure the little padlock is set to locked (click on it) then if a landscape, drag the bottom point towards the middle of the image - it should automatically `jump` into the new aspect ratio.
Other things to try in crop mode - press `o` to choose different overlays such as grid, rule of thirds, golden ratio etc.
Hope this helps. |

I have another question. If I crop in Lightroom, I still have to take the photo through to PS4 to make sure it is not larger than, for example, 300KB. Now, is there a way to ensure this correct/acceptable KB in Lightroom?

Yes. In the export dialogue there's an option to regulate file size and dimensions. |

File size must be new in LR 3 as only the pixel dimensions can be limited in LR 2. However, quality between 75 and 85 usually produces a file size under 300kb with the pixels retrained by longest side.

| Thank you both. I use LR2 and definitely will try working the quality side of it. Just strange there is no clear=cut way as in PS proggie. |

That's because LR doesn't touch your original file, PS does. LR will export whatever size image you want, from your original, again, without modifying it. You're never going to see a resize command in LR like there is in PS. These two programs use your file in entirely different ways. |

Kind of odd that it only made it into LR in v3.0. |
