This is what I got last night. Unfortunately, there was haze in the sky, and not a lot of detail. Still, I like the feel of the shot.
Tonight the moon will be rising after dark. I'll try and get something. |

I headed out last night after 9:00 p.m. and the moon was high in the sky, full and gorgeous. I thought about heading back in to get my tripod, but it was so cold out I wimped out.

Tonight is an extra-special Harvest Moon -- the Full Moon occurs only six hours after the Autumnal Equinox (transition from Summer to Fall), which is at 11:09 EDT. In addition, it will be in close conjunction with the planet Jupiter, which itself is making its closest approach to Earth until 2022. Check it out ... |

Ha, I clicked your link and got a message "this site's security certificate is not trusted". The link is to NASA.GOV. Hmm. |

I got that too with Firefox. It opens fine in IE. I also Googled it with my Firefox and found the same link. It worked through the Google link. |

Errr, wait a second. I pasted the link into IE. I bet that's why mine worked. It's probably the "clicking on link from forum" that's blocking us. Try pasting it in.

I had a theory and posted it before I tried it. Just pasting into Firefox didn't work. Just Google it.
=)

This link will be helpful tonight, it will show you where the moon will rise so you can get yourself in the right location. For those Bay Area folks. From the Tilden Park, the moon will rise over Mt. Diablo. For moonset in the morning, from Treasure Island, if you park right wher the road bends off the shoreline and into the island, it will set in the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge, barring any fog. Also if you are in Oakland, it will set over the Oakland skyline from Lakeshore Avenue with Lake Merritt in between. |

I hope we all enjoy photographing them, before they ram into the earth and destroy us all. |

Complete Sun and Moon data for one day from the US Naval Observatory is handy too. |

They canceled all those manned programs. I wouldn't trust them if I were you. |

Lovely! I strolled across the way to the store to pick up a few things and the moon had already risen here in the early bits of dusk. Quite beautiful! Didn't have may camera, but looked alot like that shot you just posted, only a much paler sky. |

Be sure and click view larger image for some detail. Worked so didn't get the glow, although I saw it on the way home, but wanted to try my hand at a moon shot anyway.

man that is crisp! nice one matt.
Here is my hazy take on things. I need to remember that higher ground doesn't make for the best moon shots. It was too bright from the top of the oakland hills. I think a lower vantage point shooting slightly up would be best.
