The Toronto Star had a feature in their photo section today on jumping spiders. Some great shots (they looked like the photog studied at roz's school of bug macros)

They're so cool!! I find them fascinating -- I have to go look up whether they're in Virginia.

Thanks. I had downloaded one of his pics to magnify the reflections in the spider eyes and this confirmed my suspicions. He's using basic equipment. What serves him most is his patience, and of course his fantastic looking spiders.

Jumping spiders are very common in this part of the world at least. His lighting is exquisite.

I've seen 'em here! They're a little disconcerting to shoot, because they tend to turn around and face you and rear up a little when they think you're gotten too close. And then they ... jump. That can be a bit startling as you're looking through your viewfinder!
