Hi folks,
I'm going to Argentina for a week of work and three weeks of play at the end of the month.
Has anyone been there before? Can anyone recommend places I shouldn't miss?
The only sure place I'll be is Buenos Aires for at least a week. Are there any monuments/sites/anythings I shoudln't miss there?
Danke,
Niall

Hi Niall,
I dont know Buenos Aires (I just had a connection flight there), but I would suggest Bariloche (very nice town); Puerto Iguazu (Brazil and Paraguay borders, just to know the falls of "Foz do Iguaçu") and Ushuaia (The Southernmost city in the world - very nice place).
Ushuaia is far... but maybe cheaper than Bariloche. Both are very beautiful places with ski stations (probably (not sure) open when you get there...).
I pointed Puerto Iguazu just because of the Falls (and I just know the brazilian side... very beautiful, by the way...)
Bariloche pictures
Foz do Iguaçu picture (the brazilian side)
I will try to post some Ushuaia pictures until the end of the week...

In BA there is a ginormous stainless steel flower whose petals open and close with the rising and setting of the sun. Extremely cool. |

If you do go to Confiteria Ideal (ground zero of the Tango Mecca), you must also visit Confiteria Tortoni - it's in MUCH better shape and still operates as a cafe. There's also a place called Las Violetas, which I haven't been to personally but is always recommended to me. PM me if you have any tango questions. |

since you have time, you should visit Patagonia and the magnificent Glaciers national park. I was in Patagonia only on the Chilean side, but it should be similar. Maybe you can also visit Torres del Paine National park in Chile, Magellan straits, and Terra del Fuego. All absolutely spectacular. |
