So if baby humans are considered baby animals then I can shoehorn this in.

Baby Animals huh? Maybe next week we can have a Hello Kitty challenge.

Sweet Cuppin Cakes maybe?

OOOH! I got it! "Shoot a picture that would be popular on an 12 year old girls school folder"

That could actually be interesting. Have you ever seen all the the Hello Kitty merchandise they sell in Japan?

I am NEVER surprised anymore about what is popular in Japan. People stand in line in tears, emotional wrecks for a video game release for cryin out loud!

Ok, but it would have to be an exclusive open challenge, opposite a "Bad Monkey" challenge.

Don't forget, there are 3 kinds of 'wild' animals when it comes to DPC.

#1 There are the 'Awwwwww' shots of kutesy kritters doing kutesy kritter things, like perched on tree stumps nibbling at nuts. Tough to go wrong with a shot like this: so Disneyish it's sickening.

#2 There are the 'Oooohhh' shots of big fierce predators, winged/mammalian/swimming or otherwise, roaring/yawning/ catching/eating prey which may or may not include kutesy kritters. They seem to score high just cause they're big, fierce (or fierce-looking) and caught in an expected pose. May also have the s**t ps'd out of them so they look even bigger and fiercer than they are.

#3 There are the 'Ewwwwww' shots of bugs/slugs/spiders/creepycrawlies doing their thang. No matter how good a pic you take, there are always going to be those voters who vote on their visceral reaction to them, and will vote them low. Having said that, any insect pic taken by roz tends to ribbon.

Okay...I have a question. The rules state -

You may not submit a photograph depicting male or female genitalia, or acts of sex deemed inappropriate by a majority of the Site Council.

Hmmm!

What about where an animals genitalia is visible....if I clone it out...would I be breaking the rules...if I leave it in...would I be breaking the rules...! Ack!!

...an excellent rule. I really REALLY hate the "smart ass" abuse of animals. People think "cool" of those kinds of photos, but I say "Go to National Geographic" if you really want to study animals sex life.

LMAO!!!! Sometimes an animal just doesn't listen when you tell him to put it away. And if I crop the image...the image loses its appeal...and THAT has nothing to do with his genitalia....grrrr!!!

As good a chance as anyone else. Don't worry about competing against others, compete against your own previous entries. Besides, you've got a great little camera there. I don't heavily use mine anymore, but I've gotten some wonderful shots with it in the past. From the looks of your portfolio, you are doing nicely with it as well.
