Green filtered photos underexpose red, and are often used to exaggerate the ruddy, textured features of the male complexion. Use a green filter, either in front of the lens or in post processing, to take a black and white male portrait.

I'd certainly give this one a go - in fact why wait for a challenge - I might have a try this weekend. Thanks for the idea Louis.

I just now discovered that Lightroom 3 has a "B&W Filters - Green" preset. This is one result, if you can ignore the clipping and the heavy-handedness. You would still be responsible for finessing it in post after the conversion, or getting it right in camera. The redder the skin, the rougher he'll look, depending on the quality of the substrate to begin with.
