Was able to use extract feature a few weeks ago, can't now. So I am sticking with the only tools that seem to work, like cloning, cause I have no choice. And I have looked at the tutorials on masking, layers etc but can't try them, as PS seems corrupted. Got it already installed on the computer I use for PS.

ETA forgot to mode em down to 8bit, had them at 16. Thanks Kelli! But Adobe Bridge seems pretty critical and I can't use it. Says Error 2: photoshop is undefined. Any ideas any of you PS wizards?

I don't use bridge. I don't understand why you need it. Critical in what way?

Uhmm I don't really know! the PS CS2 book I have, Classroom in a Book, came with a CD which I dutifully downloaded, which specifies that you start each exercise by going to Adobe Bridge.

Which, on my comp, doesn't work. So though I suppose I have the tools to help me learn, not the key to unlock the toolshed, as it were, which is why I generally keep my PS skills to a minimum...and have been Pm'ing you all day with probably very basic PS questions! And Photoshop Help doesn't work either, and whenever I did consult it in the past, gave me loads of info in very poorly written technospeak, that I just can't process. That's why I need babysitting.

If it helps at all....I don't use Bridge. I may open it up twice a year to see the thumbnail of a PS file that I want to open....but that is it.

i used to use bridge before i had lightroom. its good for organizing photos right out of the camera and batch processing

I used to use Bridge for viewing RAW files, but I discovered that IrfanView can view them much more easily if you install the RAW plugin.

//www.irfanview.com/

ETA: Oh yeah, my point was that I don't use Bridge at all any more.

I only use DPP for viewing raw images.....and I only use PS for editing.

So Susan, as you can see you can pretty much just skip over the Bridge part. LOL!

Trust me bergiekat, I have very little frickin idea as to what I am doing...which is why I pm'd Kelli all day yesterday asking for help! I don't need PS for Dummies, I need PS for the Technicologically Challenged!

I've played with a few ideas, but so far they've all come out looking like a Monty Python cartoon LOL! I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else enters.

Oh you're not the only one whose entry will look like a Terry Gilliam creation! I am pretty sure I won't even come close to ribboning, but I don't care. I need an excuse to learn PS, and am now actually having some fun, so it's all good :-)

Awesome! If you're having fun, it's all worthwhile. Heck, if winning a ribbon were the only point, I'd have thrown in the towel long ago!

Frankly I am still amazed that I ribboned, even moreso with a pic that I shot when I had no interest at all in the challenge. I was just keeping the bf company on a cold morning while he tried to get a very difficult shot. And I had the D90 and Siggy on, both new to me. I thought it a neat shot and entred it. And will probably never ribbon again on this site, but I'm OK with that...:-)

1am here but I've just submitted my entry. My first expert edit. The image feels like an achievement for me but I doubt it will live with the competition.

Really looking forward to seeing the other entries.

Good luck all.

Ugh, my eyes hurt. I've been sitting in front of the computer for the last two days trying to recreate what I saw in my head. 36 images went into it and a lot of things changed as the process took place, but I have an entry! Can't wait to see all the submissions.

Ahh, risk the slaughter, then we can cry on each other's shoulders while we fight for the brown ribbon ;-)

Once again no time!! Will have to sit this one out. I really wanted to put my idea to "paper" but... blah, blah, blah.

I enjoy seeing these challenges and the entries.

Just promise me you will give me ur shoulder even if you ROCK and I fail miserably! -- I was planning on doing something else... but landing in the ER 2xs in 2 days has kind of stopped that idea... so I went with my first shot... its not top notch

Sure thing kiddo, it's a deal...but what happened that you ended up in the ER twice, two days running?! You or another person(s)?
