Yup. That's right. If ya leave it runnin' it should grab 'em all.
What kind of phone do you have? I've half-plans to do something for androids too if you have one.

Yes, please!

she!? :)

has it been cleared? no. i messaged the council twice about it over a two month period and heard nothing back in relation to it. i figured they had problems with it if they would get back to me.
so i then pm'd langdon explaining everything about this before i posted the thread.

if there are issues its very take down able this whole thing.

You really should note that it's PC only... you got my hopes up! :(

sorry Jack! in going to write the post it was my intention to do that but completely forgot! I'll edit it noe.

anyone using it for the challenges? I was going to post a link for it in the first entry thread but figured it would be a fierce display of self promotion for an entry I didn't enter! I did release it yesterday for the challenge though so maybe it's not a bad idea.

I'm using this and liked it. In fact I made something like this with Excel some time ago. Some users came to ask if this kind of monitoring was allowed or not, etc. My opinion about that is that it does not matter if DPC likes it or not. I choose how I will check my entries. Of course, I can do that only if that does not affect site performance. I don't want to attack the site in any way.

Then, after some time, they changed something on the site and I became lazy to update the spreadsheet to be compatible with the new site change. I was planning to make an application like yours to monitor my entries, but have been postponing for a long time due to other priorities. Now I don't need to make it anymore since you have done it!

HUGE CONGRATS!

*There are some bugs to fix, I will take the time later to report it. Hope it helps.

Yes. I completely agree. I have it set up to probe the site once every five minutes. That is a tiny footprint on the website as it doesn't download any images at all. Just the text from the home page.

Please do! Also any suggestions are most welcome.
I don't know if I mentioned, but most of the features in the 'options' menu aren't functional.

This is SO AWESOME!!!!! I'm just looking now, but is there a way to store and eventually track progress (assuming we're improving...)? Is there a way to import past entries?

Again, thanks for doing this.

That's an excellent idea. Importing all previous scores for a vote-by-vote analysis mightn't be worth it realistically, the scores that it'd generate would be random. However, importing your previous results might be a neat idea... Thanks. I'll put it on the todo list.

According to Section 4.3(iv) of the DPC Terms of Use your opinion is incorrect.

I'm not saying not to do something like this, just that the rules require you to clear it with Langdon first -- submit an Administrative Ticket through the Contact Us link for fastest action.

Ah you again!
Am I permitted to develop and use my own browser, or in this case I am not permitted to be a member of DPC?

im wondering if my problem with the program is that I am not a paying member (yet) and therefore not able to access on demand scoring.

Naw. It was originally written when I wasn't a member. And it worked fine. Did you try installing it again? Delete the directory completely and download it again I'd say.

Heh. Naw. Just shrewd! I PM'd him already about it. Is there need to do a ticket still?

Well, the real issue is whether he's responded. I think stuff like this should be cleared with him before it "goes live" ...

@ NiallOTuamaLooking on your software, there is something you should do to make it really better.
I see your program generates ramdom stats according to the number of votes and current score. On my spreadsheet, it generated random stats only for the period while it was not monitoring the scores. While it was monitoring the score, it was able to calculate and register on the spreadsheet each votes that occurred between the refresh intervals.
This means that if I start to monitor my entry now with my spreadsheet, the spreadsheet would guess the scores from the beggining until now, but from now on, it would make calculations and tell me each single vote I received during the refresh interval. Of course the less votes you get during the refresh interval, the more accurate the calculations about each single vote.
This is a must have for addicted users like most of us.

What do you think about that?

Let me know if you need some help.

I think I got a little over excited with releasing it before the latest competition started.
I think I both agree and disagree with you this though :) But you're probably right.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying suggesting... Can you explain the suggestion again?

What I am suggesting, is a way to regiter the difference between the last time the score was refreshed and the current score. And then, with this difference, you can calculate and register what were the latest votes.
Suppose I have 36 votes now with an average score of 5.0000. Then, after 5 minutes I have 38 votes with an average score of 4,9210. Doing the maths, I will conclude that in the last 5 minutes, I received a 3 and a 4.
My spreadsheet was able to do this automatically, grabbing all the information from the DPC front page. And each votes were registered to a line in the spreadsheet, stating the scores on each refresh.
Let me know if you have any doubts.

That's what mine does. Or rather it'll either calculate 3 and 4 or 2 and 5 or 1 and 6. It's random.

That's very odd. Did you redownload it or did you use the program you downloaded yesterday?
