Ok So I have a brilliant idea for this challenge... at least I think its brilliant and I know it will be fun! LOL but anyway I want to make sure its legal before I spend hours working on it... Ive never done expert editing... read the rules... and basically there doesn't seem to be many LOL
My question is if I take 4 separate images (all taken on same day all within challenge time frame) am I allowed to combine them into one image? |
Mhmm. |
so what am I not allowed to do... besides clip art etc?

I really want to be in this one, but it will depend if I can find the other half of what I need. I've got my base shot done & edited already. I just need one little thing! LOL! |

Holy Crap!!! Cant wait to see it!!!
ETA: I am not expecting a top score on this for me... 1.) I am still learning 2.) lack of available things to create/shoot and 3.) Dont really have any brilliant ideas. But I wanted to try something and this was a good chance to try it... and Im so excited to see everyones entries... I bet this challenge is going to have an awesome show of talent!

Oh gawd, I am going to need a helluva lot more coffee! Good thing Kelli gave me some tips awhile back. |

Wow - that is alot - looking forward to seeing it:-)
Here's a question: With that many images/layers, how many man hours PP do you put into it? The reason I ask is I am really starting to wonder if I am 'being efficient' and maximizing my tools in getting the work done...already put in a handful of hours and have not finished yet. |

That all depends on the complexity of the image, the amount of images used, what is used from each image and how often you need to reboot to quicken up the process. That particular image took me nearly 3 days (with many interruptions) to complete...one of my longest yet....with over 200 layers.

Wow, well, I feel a little less nuts now... I've been putting in many hours a day on mine since Thursday and still have a way to go. I lost track of the number of layers involved a long time ago, but it has only(!) ten or so source images. |

Jeez...I can barely manage to put together 3 separate images into one, I cannot imagine how you can do so many! |

Was able to use extract feature a few weeks ago, can't now. So I am sticking with the only tools that seem to work, like cloning, cause I have no choice. And I have looked at the tutorials on masking, layers etc but can't try them, as PS seems corrupted. Got it already installed on the computer I use for PS.
ETA forgot to mode em down to 8bit, had them at 16. Thanks Kelli! But Adobe Bridge seems pretty critical and I can't use it. Says Error 2: photoshop is undefined. Any ideas any of you PS wizards?

I don't use bridge. I don't understand why you need it. Critical in what way? |

I just did a tally on my file and I used 26 images and 213 layers. But I am happy with the result. The largest one I have done is this one. This took a full week to put together and was transported over 1000kms from the printers on two pallets.

Uhmm I don't really know! the PS CS2 book I have, Classroom in a Book, came with a CD which I dutifully downloaded, which specifies that you start each exercise by going to Adobe Bridge.
Which, on my comp, doesn't work. So though I suppose I have the tools to help me learn, not the key to unlock the toolshed, as it were, which is why I generally keep my PS skills to a minimum...and have been Pm'ing you all day with probably very basic PS questions! And Photoshop Help doesn't work either, and whenever I did consult it in the past, gave me loads of info in very poorly written technospeak, that I just can't process. That's why I need babysitting. |
