I'm trying out a free smugmug account for 14 days to see if it's something in which I'm interested. I was wondering if anyone was bored and wanted to look at a gallery and maybe make a few comments. I want to see how the stats, comments, etc work, but I need some helpful people to actually look at it before I get stats/comments.

If you're looking for something to do, this would be a thrilling way to waste, I mean spend, your time! Thanks in advance! (just in case...)

Nice...I like This one. Just my opinion though. I like out of the box stuff like that !

On another note...I have a pro acct over there b/c I sold a pile of prints last spring. I'm now into the CSS programing to tweak my smugmug exactly how I want it. I'll post after the 4th sometime and you can all take a look at it.

Thanks, it would be interesting to see! (and I'm glad you liked the shot -- I thought it was fun, too!)

If anyone wants to comment, could you please comment on smug mug? I'm trying to figure out the system, so it would be great to see what happens if people comment, rate, refer, or whatever can be done.

Love it! I like smugmug's setup.

I have one too!

I'm now stuck at the point of writing a bio/artist statement. It doesn't look like you're serious without one. The pix are good on yours. It's hard to know how to organize it. Would you organize by location or by bird. And I got stuck on things like tags. Tags would be important to people searching for a specific subject. And I think a bit of story/description on each one would be good, too. In the end, I got a bit overwhelmed by all the deciding I had to do, & sort of ground to a halt. Temporarily, I'm sure. Are you setting yours up for clients? I think you have some writing to do, too!

Thanks all!!

I'm a little surprised at how the comments work, so it was fun finding out how and where you find them. I still have exploring to do.

You're right, pixelpig, I do need to put in more information.

I actually created this because I did a shoot for a client, and I had no place to put the pictures (they're in a private gallery)! I had created a website using frontpage about 3 years ago, but I can't find the original anywhere on my hard drive. And since it's been 3 years, I had no idea what I had done.

I don't think I'll buy the professional version, because I'm not trying to have a business. I'll do shoots occasionally, but if I do them too often, I don't think I'd enjoy photography as much, so I don't advertise and just do it when asked.

However, I think it would be fun to have my pictures up someplace, so I might do the basic membership. I have 10 more days to figure it out! :D

I have to go browse around for awhile!

Looks great, Wendy! You've got some pretty amazing bird shots! As for the Smugmug, there's a lot you can do with it as far as customization, but I think most of that is only with the power and pro accounts. Some of the advantages include adding watermarks and getting rid of the Smugmug logo and footer.

I like Smugmug for its functionality and options but I am noticing that every Smugmug page/site I see looks the same, even if the owner has done things to make it look different. They all generally look the same. Having no option to have more columns is frustrating on a 22 inch monitor. Four columns looks drab to me, we should be able to have at least 6 or more.

Here's mine and guess what, it looks like yours, even after I've played with it for a while I can't get an original look and I don't like that.

eta. I have a pro account too and the modifications are limited.

You have some great birdy shots in there Wendy. Lovely images.
