I have to echo the comments already made by my fellow DPCers...that is one incredible job you did Skip.
Pawdrixis to be commended for organizing this event and assuming the role of "Mother Hen' and herding all the "out-of-towners" like myself. I know I had a fantastic time and had the opportunity to meet some truly incredible people. If anyone ( Pawdrix) ever contemplates on organizing another NYC GTG, I can assure you that I would love to attend.
Thank you all,

Amen to that :-) Some are not identifying their shots at all, and others are just using first names, which are of marginal use. We'd love to see actual DPC usernames in the photographer's notes... |
maybe this will help ;-) |
Skip, that is so cool. I guess that's a testimony to the success of the weekend. Again, I'm so glad everybody had a good time and thanks everyone, for the kind emails and for posting such kick-ass pix...all of you.
Cheers! |

These are some of the images from the GTG that are about people. Just random shots. Some make you think, some make you smile. This is a relatively new type of photography for me and I feel a sense of accomplishment by getting this many shots. B&W is also a new format for me. Learning all the time, which is good :D Take a look at the rest of the 45 or so images that I just added. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think this is one of the cool aspects of GTG's. A bunch of photographers all in the same space at the same time.

...and you would be wrong. I know of one old fart with gimpy legs that sat on a park bench for a very long time and does not have one single image of this fella. :O)

I was just at the SOFOBOMO site, filling out the details of my upcoming project and thought I'd have a look at some of the completed books... one of which happened to be Skip's very own.
Now, this is my first visit to this thread... never having ventured here on account of not having any plans to go to NY any time soon, thus not be there for the GTG. Nor had I been to the sofobomo thread for a while.
So anyway... just viewing this random book, didn't read the intro etc, then see "pawdrix" under one of the photos and think "That looks familiar for some reason" but I didn't make the link... forward another few pages and there's "Melethia" under a photo of Deb... that's when the lightbulb turned on... and I went through enjoying the photos of DPCers whose work I love and respects, seeing them enjoy a day of taking photos. Brilliant.
Great work, Skip... now wish I could have been there. |

Like Skip, I had decided before I went to NYC that I would use the images made during this trip for my 2010 SOFOBOMO. (Find out more here)
Unlike Skip, I did not finish mine within a few days of getting back! However, I have finished it today and submitted. Uploaded it also to ISSUU as I think it flows better on that site.

Well I'm back home now and just starting to go through all my shots.
I thought I had a lot more than I actually have, maybe I didn't take as many as I thought I did... or I lost some along the way...
Anyway had an awesome time meeting everyone and was certainly a highlight in my travels! : )
