That's wonderful, Max.
Brad and I celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary on May 25th.
Hard to believe that so many years passed so quickly.

Thank you all for your well wishes. I think that I'm the luckiest guy in the world. We have been through so much in our 25 years and she still loves me and is willing to hang in there for the long hall :)
They say love is blind so I hope she never regains her sight :)
25 years, two wonderful and talented children, a house that's our own and support for each other that never falters, what more could I ask for. Janet-Lynne and our sons Caleb and Isaac are my world one that I'm proud to be a part of.
All the best to everyone celebrating or to those who have just celebrated your anniversaries.
Ain't love grand!!!!
MAX! |

Sigh. As usual I feel left out... I shall wander off to lonely sub-average corner over there... in the dark. With spiders. No light.

Oooh, spiders!! Get out your macro lens! Even if there's no light, you must have a flash, even if it's just the onboard on!

I don't know what to do. We have a very sweet cat that has, at different times gone to the bathroom all over the place. We've kept her anyway, brought her to the vet multiple times, thought that it had stopped, found that she did it again. She has done it in two certain places, we when find that she's been doing it again, we douse it with nature's miracle and hope. (there's not much smell to her urine, so you only know by hearing her scratch someplace strange.)
I woke up to her scratching on the bed. She went to the bathroom on the bed, and it soaked through to the mattress. However, there was no wet spot, so it must have been awhile ago that she did it, and was still trying to bury it because of the smell.
I'm heart broken, because I can't keep this cat anymore. Especially since, once they go in one spot, they have a tendency to reuse that spot. We got her from the humane society 3 years ago, and I worry that we won't be able to adopt another cat if we give one up.
I love this stupid cat -- but I can't have her going to the bathroom on the bed!!
I'm going to go cry now.

Have the cry........it's what we do when it appears that there's no hope, but you might have to move her along. It's an unfortunate thing, but every now and then one comes along that simply cannot live in your home. Lisa and I have had multiple cats in our home ever since we moved in together 32 years ago in 1978. At one point we had 23, which REALLY was too many, but we seem to have stabilized over the years to around a half dozen. They have always been feral/barn/rescue cats, and sometimes one just will not acclimate. Cats are very adaptable......but they won't always work out in your home. I had a car repair shop for about 20 years, and I had cats there as well, them being indoor/outdoor cats that weren't anywhere near as much pets as tolerant of the human involvement in their lives. They were vaccinated, and neutered, but not wholly domesticated.
We've only had to get rid of possibly three or four in all those years for this kind of thing, but what you're doing as steward for your furry children does not entitle them to ruin your life and make you miserable. This kitty might have to have a new home. She obviously has a problem with something in your home, whether it be another kitty tormenting her around the catbox, or that she simply doesn't like the litter. We have one that'll pee on the floor if she's bugged or the boxes aren't clean enough to suit her. She's high maintenance, but we've learned to keep after her. The bed peeing is unacceptable.
Did you change anything recently? Did you get a new kitty? Cat box location? Is the litter the same? Is it scented? We *have* to use unscented litter 'cause ours cannot tolerate the chemicals for deodorizing. This is also a sign of renal issues......how old is she? Is this a new kitty, or has this been a problem for a long time? Can you close her out of the bedroom?
You may be able to adopt her out if she's the single cat of someone who is home all the time who can watch her, or she simply may have to become a barn kitty on a farm.
I feel your pain more than you know, because as you can imagine, after all these years, Lisa and I have buried way too many kitties. But our lives wouldn't be complete without them.
Good luck!

Yes, the litter changed. However, in the half dozen times that this has happened over the time that we've had her, things hadn't changed. She's been to the vet a couple of times when this happens to make sure she doesn't have a bladder/kidney infection. Other than some granules, there's no medical reason (last time) for this -- and the vet said the granules were so small, they shouldn't cause this. The problem at this point, is that she re-uses spots. Which was fine when it was a bathroom rug, because that could be washed. We can't find the spots, because it's not a strong odor, but there's definitely an order when you put your nose there. If we lock her out of the bedroom, I think she'll just find new spots that we won't know about.
I can't see how this can work out. If we hadn't tried stuff before... but I can't see what there's left to try.
I HATE THIS!!!! I really love that stupid cat. This hurts so bad.

I hate not having DPC at work - typing on a cell phone ain't my strong suit!
Thanks for the email, Susan - I'll get back to you from home later. Wendy, can you put the cat in a separate room with its own litterbox when you're not around? And at night? Mine are good about the box but are hell on furniture. I'm sure most would not put up with it but it's just furniture. I don't envy your decision. :-( |

Wendy, have you tried citrus spray? We had a cat that started going behind the couch, and found that spraying a citrus spray back there kept her out. Cats HATE the smell of citrus. Plus, it's not harmful to the cat or your family. |

Had to share - you just can't get any closer than this without being targeted as the trial run for some devious computer program to terrorize participants and make them feel bad... Wait a minute... that could explain a lot about my "never got to 5.5" DPL season...

How about this for close? I'm happy with the scores though. I haven't had scores like this for awhile!!!
Actually, I just looked and I've only had 2 scores above 6 this year!

Damn. You win! Why does the computer program have to give me such not-good scores, though?

Mine aren't too close, either. The funny thing was, when double take was going on, there was actually a 2.0 point spread between the two. I've never had that big of a difference before!
