I've submitted my entry to Silence and I like it. However, now I've looked at another image I took at the same time and I like it too. I'm going back and forth trying to decide which image to use as my final submission. My question is this: does Murphy's Law operate here? In other words, is the picture I DON'T choose likely to finish higher than the one I do? And how do you decide when you have two images that you like equally which one to submit? Well? |

The picture you don't submit will likely seen like it would have done better.
Asking a family memember to pick their favorite helps.

I have determined that there is nothing you can do. Whatever photo you submit will be the wrong one between more than one good candidate. It is written in stone somewhere. You can still attempt to be the only person on Earth that breaks this curse by viewing your images at different sizes, at diffeent times, and even in print. I don't very often ask anyone to help me choose anymore because that never seemed to work very good for me. If you do ask for opinions try to get many to get a better average and be sure to say what the theme is. Context is everything.

Print out both images to a 4 x 6 print. Tape them to a wall or door somewhere in your house right next eachother. Walk away.
Stay away from both pictures for atleast an hour.
Walk up to the pictures, and notice which photo grabs your attention. Pick the other one.

Submit what you like.
Too many people are already submitting everybody else's tastes.

Well I like 'em both. I just unsubmitted my first one, and submitted my second. Obviously, my first one will prove to have been the better choice. |

I feel for you... I've submitted my second entry to the Silence challenge of the same subject. It's actually about the fifth one I've made up my mind to submit, and I'll probably change my mind again, but what the hey... :)
