Have to admit I am also thinking of taking a sabbatical from challenges, unless one really grabs me and ideas for it haunt me from the get-go. Still plan to be here, but would rather spend time shooting stuff for stock and actually make some $$$, as opposed to just watching images score barely over 5. |

My membership is up on the 15th of the month.
I will be here in a nice grey shirt until someone I've shot for antes up the money for prints.
Hasn't happened yet.

Anyone have any ideas on how we can do some marketing around the print site (DPC Prints, that is) so we can generate some sales? Something outside the DPC community? I have over 100 images available (cheap) -- should I increase my prices ten-fold?

I did not have time to take photos during my last semester. Sucked at Missed Focus, but thought I would do a little better in the FS. At least the June Macro side challenge gives me something to work on and enjoy.

Don't worry, nobody here is keeping score as to who has entered how many challenges! Relax, take your time to come back and yeah, the voters have been pretty difficult imho as of late. but then, I suck. ;-) |

It has come all the way from 4.2005 and it's not a bad shot just not DPC friendly I guess.

Beautiful work. I know how much work that is. I did one for my girls bday, not nearly as difficult as that one and it took forever.
My boys bday is in a couple weeks so I plan on doing a soccer cake for him.

Yep, could have saved myself a lot of time if I could have used fondant, but she wanted all buttercream. Yours looks really cool. I bet the girls were impressed! |

Y'all are jammin'!
Best I used to do was mud pies in my sister's Easy Bake oven.
Pissed her off to no end.

LOL! They still have to survive transporting. I've got extra icing & my tips & bags packed just in case I need to fix anything after the trip. Thankfully I have three people riding with me to hold each section. It's actually bigger than it looks in the picture. The bottom layer is 18 inches. As long as it survives the trip & assembly I'll send a picture in. If not, then it will truly be a wreck. |

Wahwahweewah! Those cakes are nice!
I'm a true team sucker, my last 6 entries have all straddled the 5.0 line. And my computer is kinda busted, so the sound and plug and play both don't work. So I have no way to transfer pictures from my memory card to my computer. |

Ten years ago, when Isaac was turning three, they had just developed the technique of using food colors in an inkjet printer to make an image you could transfer onto smooth frosting on the top of the cake ... I made up this composite image based on a "sculpture" I built on the bed of a scanner.
One of these days I should put together a little collection -- I take a picture of the cake at almost every party I attend. |

We need to get the cake people together and bake cakes! Here's some of the ones that I'm proud of:

It was my first and only time doing a fondant person -- it was a lot of fun! Especially doing the hair with a garlic press.
I found out you can't lay fondant items on a frosted cake and leave it out over night. The ruler and scissors got limp and soggy.
But can someone teach my how to pipe leaves? I just can't get them to work out!

I love the baby! Maybe one day soon I'll take pictures of my cake pictures to post (no scanner). I have an album full.
General, the columns have dowels inside them that run through the cake, so once they're attached to the cake plates above them they will be sturdy. Right now they're just kind of sitting there.
Leaves are easy, you just need to use the right tip. |

I have the right tip (at least that what it says) but it never comes out as a single point on the leaf -- it always splits in two. :(

I'm a child of the '70's, so I may have some very creative suggestions...

You guys are so talented with your baking skills! The other day, I made some cookies from scratch. I usually use the Nestle chopped up squares because I'm always in a hurry. So the kids asked me why my cookies were round this time. *sigh* That should tell you ladies about the quality of my baking lol. |
