I am feeling very uncreative, and I was wondering what others did for inspiration when they are feeling uninspired?

Would love to hear from everyone!

Thanks,

Jamie

I suggest looking around on Google images, or DPC..

Oh, and don't forget to drink heavily or use recreational drugs.. That'll definitely help.. ;)

Drugs! Oh, wait. Was that a multiple choice question?

I haven't been inspired lately...must be in a middle aged rut, lol!

It sometimes depends on the situation, but I'll either go and read something about photography or go shoot something familiar. I tend to want to try new things, but when in a rut it's nice to get out and shoot again without trying to be creative.

Such a setup and I won't comment. That newbie may come after me.

Hmm...usually a challenge description will betray what will do well. I try to foresee what the most popular trends will be - and either avoid them or skew them entirely...!

Ooh! You just gave me a great idea for a challenge...*running off to get props*

This may or may not be true but I read somewhere that creative juices are more active at wee hours of the night. The article that I read gave examples of famous artworks and artists who admitted that they are more creative at night. They don't necessarily do the artworks at night but the ideas come about at night.

So the answer to the question is to stay up late.

Daydream.

When I don't have time to daydream, I find inspiration in sleeping & dreaming.

Don't worry, that's a perfectly normal side effect to Cory exposure. It'll wear off in a few hours.

Grab the camera and go for a walk. Just shoot & don't think

ok well i take everybody's name and and put them on bricks, i then go outside wearing nothing but a loincloth, while my neighbor and his mariachi band play "born to be wild" by steppenwolf. chug a bottle nyquil and start juggling the bricks. when i came to, the mariachi band is usually doing body shots on a shaven yak with a case of patron silver.

Then i just go do a google search for images.....

First I try to decide if the subject lends itself to a unique way of shoehorning my shoehorn in. I fnot, I think about it while driving to and from work for a couple of days. If inspiration fails to hit me upside the head, I often browse Flickr for ideas that can jump start it.

Get in touch with your inner lunatic. ...but keep the visits very brief or people become suspicious.

I have this on my profile page

"As an adult, there are many barriers to being in this creative state of mind. I feel constantly challenged by these barriers. It is very difficut to let go of responsibilities and enter a creative fantasyland. It̢۪s hard to stop looking at the clock and our bills. It̢۪s hard not to drown in relationship problems and all the negative thoughts that deflate our motivation to create. If you can summon the strength to get past all these things and trust your heart, creativity can be miraculous. You can be transported to another existence ...

... I find it so much easier to be creatively free at night. Daytime is for sleeping. Nighttime is the best time for making art. The later at night it gets the further into another world you go.
Mark Ryden 2001

Edit to add - I agree, night is my best time for creating - but the light sucks - GRIN! And my children demand that I be awake every day! I think I must continue to be a struggling photographer (at least that what my DPC score card says!)
