Nice work, Mr Bear! I'm assured by one of my DPL teammates that my next entry will actually score in the region somewhere above 5. I'm not holding my breath.
Lea, you're going to make that little one's parents very happy with your work, I just know it. You're an amazingly strong woman.
I'm exhausted from traveling and commuting and waiting for things to happen, etc, etc. But I should sign for my rental house tomorrow afternoon, and my first shipment of household goods (the stuff I had in Germany) should be delivered on Friday. No time to unpack it though, as I have to head back up to Santa Barbara for the weekend, then back down here next week. I can work on the house after I get home from work, though. Eventually I'll get settled and hopefully have a bit more time to shoot! :-) |

Max, awesome portrait - and a well deserved Blue!
Leah, we are all proud of you, and hopefully this marks a new stage in your healing process. Don't forget to post a couple of photos from the shoot when you aren't so tired.
Deb, all sounds good, although exhausting. Take some photos of your new place to show us. |

@Robert,
Congrats on your top 20 Gem. However, I must say that your portrait of WhiteRook was awesome. You did an excellent job of capturing his "essence", for lack of a better word.
Nice.
@Susan - You scared me to death. Thought that was a picture of my ex there for a second. (not so much the dress, but the rifle and the welding mask)

Kudos to Ryan.

Well, it was all his fault err, idea! I just went with it. The wedding dress is from his sister, the welding mask from gawd knows where, and the airgun is his too. The bench and unmown backyard are mine :-)
Hey btw I now have a link to my images at Alamy on my homepage:
//www.alamy.com/search-results.asp?qt=Susan+Andrews&ct=&submitsearch=Search&go=1&a=-1&archive=1&size=0xFFl
Now how on earth do I do a nice li'l linky so I don't have a huge long line of code, it just says something neat and concise like 'www.alamy.com/Susan Andrews'?!

Yer writes www.alamy.com/Susan Andrews and then yer drags the mouse over it as in 'highlight' or 'define' or whatever it's called, and then yer hits the little icon with the planet, 3 in from the right, up there at the top of the box where you write stuff like I'm doing now.
Oh, I forgot to say it's no bad thing to have the site to which you wish to link open in another tab, or at least the URL (the big, long one) available to cut and paste.
Cos that's what you do after you've highlighted www.alamy.com/Susan Andrews - yer cuts and pastes the big, long, wobbly URL into the little window that makes itself available for just that, as I am about to do now.
Lo and behold.
I'm on 5+ and a fave in bokeh, so miracles cannot be ruled out. |

The shoot was difficult.
Editing was hard.
But, seeing the tears in Brad's eyes as he watched the slideshow when I was done was the worst.

Lea, my husband wrote a poem after one of my miscarriages, many many moons ago, and one line has stuck in my mind all these years: "We lost something we would have loved." |

Lea, what a wonderful job you did on the photos. I knew you could do it for you are strong.
"MOM"
It's not a crime to shed a tear for those you loved and held so dear,
for if you cry when they are gone it gives you strength to carry on.
Life is precious, wonderful and true
for life my dear begins with you.
I wrote this for my wife when we lost our middle child due to a complication during the pregnancy but I never had the heart to share it with her. I was afraid I guess and I've carried it around in my head now for around 14 years. It feels good to put it down. I will show her in the morning.
All the best to you and yours.

Max, I hope you've got some extra time in the morning for Janet when you share that with her. I think you will both need it. ((hugs))

Lea, we had time the morning after I posted it for her to see it and she was very touched and understood why it took so long and was really glad that I shared it with you and my fellow team suckers.

Since we don't post the results anymore (why is that?) I would like to share with all of you that it is official I get to keep the pretty blue ribbon on my front page :)
We are happy to inform you that your submission to the DPChallenge User Portrait challenge ("Looking Back") has been validated.
Your entry has been reviewed by the Site Council and/or Administrators, who have confirmed your submission.
Thank you for your continued participation in DPChallenge!
Thank you all for your wonderful comments and support. Team suck rocks and I have learned so much from looking through your portfolios over my time on the team.
I wish we were still posting the challenge results it was always helpful for me to see how everyone was doing.

Thanx for the kind words, everyone; I was totally bummed not to ribbon (dropped 9 votes and a LOT of points at rollover) because that was certainly Whiterook's best chance ever to be on the front page :-)
ON a plus note, it was just validated :-)
R.
