Thanks Deb! She did the hair, I did the makeup. I think she looked great. She's just a little miffed at the score. LOL! |

YAYYY!
*see previous snaffless post*
YAYYY!!! This is most definitely a male rose-breasted grosbeak. YAAYYYYYY!!! :-)
Talk about sheer dumb luck, I was outside shooting macros with the 50mm f1.4. Then light began to go, clouds moving in, so began to pack up gear...and just happened to glance over at the feeder and there he was! So seeing that he was shot at about 20 ft with a 50mm prime lens, none too shabby!
Of course, once I mounted up the big lens and tripod inside, with window open and screen removed, ready to shoot him if he appeared again...nada. :-/ So although this shot may look more like a Sasquatch sighting, at least he was really there!
PS something smoked one of the bluejays last night, just some down and tailfeathers left, no blood or guts. I heard a ton of squawking yesterday about this time, 6:30 pm approx, but was too busy doing stuff upstairs to go downstairs and check it out. Damn. It was probably a prairie falcon.
Yeah, it could have been Druli, too, but he tends to bring in his prey or at least wear it on his bib! And he just turned 16. Says hi to all TSers.

Playing with the baby today. LOL! I took 107 shots of her with the buttercups, but couldn't get her to look at me! She just wanted to catch & eat the flowers. |

Ah feel yer pain, but FSs are always difficult. Just add on an extra half-point and you'll likely end up with the score you would have in a challenge. :-) |

I think it's a strong image. Only thing I can figger is that you got dinged because every little "hair" on the bee isn't in focus. Pretty critical, if you asked me.

BTW - I thought this thread was a pretty good idea, but no one seems to be biting. Should I just let it die?

Oh, cool! I just saw that there are some bites. You may want to check it out. I always think you should put credit where credit is due. (...plus, there may be some interesting stories to tell here.)

Well, I just submitted an entry for "A is for..." that was out of my comfort zone, just because it's not "accepted" DPC-type material. BUT - I got to thinking. (danger Will Robinson) One of the main reasons that I'm a card-carrying member of Team Suck is because I proudly march to the beat of a different drummer. This means that if the entry scores high, I can say "Team Suck Rules!". It also means that if it takes a nose-dive, I can say, "Team Suck Rules!". Either way, I can't lose.
If there's one thing that I loathe - in art, especially - it's mediocrity. Therefore, if I score a 5.1 or higher, or a 4.9 or lower, I win!
No wonder I love it here.
Ahhhhh...
Freedom!

Hello fellow suckers, I just thought I would send a shout out to all of you and let you know I was able to meet up with Susan snaffles this weekend and we had a great time on Saturday. Just a little shooting and talking and then dinner. What fun.
Much Love Susan, my family had a great time meeting you and look forward to seeing you again :)

And that imho is just how it should be. Shoot what pleases you, not the voters. And should you enter a shot that does please the voters, well, who knows what strange things might happen! ;-)
And best of all...when strange things do happen, as they did to me, you'll know you did it on your own terms. Nothing can replace that! |

That would make a good chant, next time on the picket line protesting the voting ...
