It would be great to see who goes through and gives pictures 1-4, especially if they have a competitive picture because then they are obviously trying to change the scores in their favor. Otherwise they are just being an ass.

Why in the world is everyone in the 4's. How can this challenge be mistakened. Sport action which requires people actively involved with a sport. This is my first challenge with my Nikon D300s and I didn't expect to be in the 4s with an action shot. Wow. I just want to go back to bed.

Although looking at the scores posted, I might be in the top 10!

better than what it was but still. Sad that with each challenge there is such poor, unsportsmanlike behaviour on this site. Langdon, hope you've got software to track the morons doling out 1s and 2s!

ETA: Hipychik, I do believe you ARE in the top 10! :-)

Well I made a quick run through and voted. Didn't see any 4's. My lowest vote was a 5. Had a lot of 6's and 7's. Highest votes was 9's. Avg vote cast 6.0. So why these people are in the 4's is beyond me. Maybe we entered the wrong challenge and should have been the one sports withough people.

The tactical voters seem to have finished their fun. Starting to see some traction.

So in my last 7 votes, i have gotten a 7,6,6,2,3,6,3.... And with the first 20votes being as horrid as everyone elses (avging 4.50),I really REALLY dont understand this voting pattern nor the voters anymore I guess...

Very pleased with the score, but even more pleased with the comment from one of the photographers I most admire on the site...

I remember not too long ago a member was playing around at the start of a challenge by voting really low then really high then actually giving their real vote. I wonder if this is being done again, it just seems strange to have so many people with such low scores when (after a quick browse through the entries) there aren't really any really bad entries in this challenge.

I did do some voting on both sports challenges last night and noticed one difference. The "without players" challenge lends itself a little more to staged shots, which are easier to control, while the this one is more photos of actual sports being played, which means less control over the scene and photos that often are not technically perfect. As I vote, I am trying to vote more upon whether the photographer captured the moment well, instead of just pure wow-factor.

Usually the low scores don't bother me, but this time, I find it totally hard to comprehend:

Thank you!
Live sports photography is difficult to do even for those in with access to the arena.

For those who had to sit with the crowd, not only you had to deal with trying to capture the moment, low light settings, stupid vendors getting in your way, obnoxious fans, and people's heads getting in the way. This challenge was not an easy one.

The photographer cannot control the subjects, the lighting and the environment. It wasnt easy.

I found that out a few weeks back, while photographing a basketball game that my daughter was in. The afternoon sun coming in the high gym windows really messed with the exposure. My best option was to stake out a spot at the end of the court with the best light and use manual mode. My shutter speed had to be fairly slow and even with a monopod, they were far from ideal. Some good snapshots is what I got, but not a thing I would call challenge worthy. My daughter and her friends really liked them, however.

Seems like there are quite a few non action shots entered in this challenge. I don't get it, if they wanted that why not enter the team sports without players,

I have to be honest, are you sure you are looking at the Sports IV entries? I don't see what you are talking about with regards to not seeing action in the shots. The set up, the anticipation is just as much the action of sports as motion....
