I think the Admins are allowed some power at their disgression to throw out bad challenges... Or wait, you're right ecce, I just want everyone to claim they left their photographs in their sister's computer. |

Hey, if you seriously think you've been unfairly treated because your photo was quite obviously over the heads of most DPC voters, you have the floor, and even though you've pissed off 90% of the viewers to this thread [lol], I think everyone is interested to know the story...well, okay so maybe not EVERYONE, but I am. |

whether or not it was over their heads.. i feel that the title and insinuations were just too vulgar for them.. The photograph might have meant something to me.. but I like to keep it that way.. I really don't want to explain why I took the picture or what i mean by it. I don't think that's why i was disqualified. |

It was not so much a rant - I can handle ranting - but you sounded more like some spoilt brat who did something wrong but blames eveybody else. Like I said before if you dont like the rules that the majority follow you have the choice. Its no good blaming other people - the buck stops with you.

I love your use of "they". Like this group of 7000 or so people all have one mind and thought process. you can *feel* whatever you want but the simple fact is you didn't provide proof, and a DQ was requested.
Discretion has nothing to do with it. |

I liked your photo a lot. I assumed it was a simple double exposure, but it could just as easily have been photoshopped. Knowing the rules and the general fear of photoshopping on the site I would have kept the original file if the photo had been mine, expecting to have to submit it as proof. There is no way to get beyond not having the proof and it IS your fault. There is no way the administration, no matter what their IQ, could tell the difference without you following the simple rule of keeping the original file with the exif info. But hey, now you know. At least you didn't have an 8. I enjoy your photography and think you should stick around and not get so upset about it, it's just for fun after all.
I completely agree about your "general discussion" forum beef btw. |

This isn't a rant, how? Chin, just because my rant rubs you the wrong way doesn't mean I'm not allowed this. I blame you, chin.. You are the reason this happened to me. |

They, He, She.. I don't know how admins take care of these 'proof' requests.. I'm not trying to blame everyone. |

Erm, I think YOU are the reason this happened to you Miah. Regardless of the authenticity of the pic rules is rules. I personally didn't understand why you got dq'd but hey, it happened maybe we will all learn from your demise in this challenge?

To be honest, this has to be the most lenient sites around with there forums. Most sites you would have been banned for calling admins asshats, bastards and what ever else you called them.
If it was my site you would be gone.

Originally posted by GoldBerry: I remember the pic, and I remember giving it probably more thought than I'd ever given another photo. I can't remember what I ultimately decided apon, but I made a mental note "too risque for the ma-and-pa operation of DPC" even though I liked it....admittedly I wasn't sure what Rusted Steel Slut meant. And by not sure, I mean I had no clue. Whatever statement you were making went right over my head and NOT because I thought it was inappropriate...I just plum didn't get it... |
This is really interesting (along with your comments that followed). You really liked it, because you thought it had some deep meaning, but you had no idea what that meaning was, and if it didn't have that deep meaning, then you don't like it...
So, I have to ask, what was it that made you initially say you liked it? What was it about the photo (which you say you do, then don't quite, remember) that made you say you like it? Was it simply that it said something you thought might be taboo, or might be offensive to some people? Is that all it takes to make a good photo?
(Hope this isn't percieved as an attack. I'm not trying to be beligerently arguementative. Just trying to raise the question of why some people see "offensive" or "dirty" or "unconventional" as automatically having a likeable quality.) |

the reason i was lead to believe there was a chance, is the secondary option you have: "if you are not able to supply us with proof, contact us: here" I explained my photograph there, and admittedly said: "i will understand if you need to disqualify me" I don't think they needed to though. What can I say? I'm disappointed because I had a photograph that I very much enjoyed taken away from me.. Nobody gets to see it or comment on it-
I also feel that the whole purpose of the "requesting proof" has a lot to do with preventing people who would abuse post processing to better their score. Obviously in order to strengthen the rules, you can't allow many exceptions.. its unfortunate that mine wasn't an exception, and i am understandably disappointed. - okay -
I could stop now, or I could let my anger shift to the people more indirectly involved with the disqualification of my photo..
It all comes back to the people who care so much about ribbons that they are willing to cheat in order to receive them. Have i focused my anger upon a group that we can all revel in complaining about?
Now kindly fuck off, i'm through with this rant.

I have an idea. Go reshoot it and call it "Slut in Conflict" and use it in the new open challenge. Just be sure to save it on your own computer. |

Jerimiah - maybe its past your bedtime when you start with language like that. Dont forget there are some younger members on this site. Your cruising for the boot, be careful. If you need to vent your feelings like that then please just leave, you will not be missed.

Miah - You definately have a good eye for photography and I generally score your photos well (I'm a fan of high contrast B&W). But, your tirades everytime someone doesn't agree with you is getting a little old. You would get a lot more respect around here if you grew up a little and realized, you're NOT always right.
BTW, I'm pretty sure you checked a box when you submitted, saying you understood you could be DQed for not providing proof. There was a DQ request, you didn't have an original, you were DQed. End of story. Get over it and move on.

Just become a paying member, upload it to your portfolio, and everyone can see it and anyone who is interested can comment. :)

Just out of interest, how did you do the photo?? When I saw it, I thought it might be dq'd or at least someone might ask for verification. If it makes you feel better, it wasn't me.
But Hey, You created an image that people remember! I know exatly how it looked.
Hope you managed to read the comments on it before it was deleted. |
