I want to get a R-Strap but would like to know can the camera's tripod socket pop off from hanging up side down? Also if your camera hanging up-side down will that mess up the camera?

I've had that strap for ages now and still love it.
Hanging upside down doesn't worry the camera at all.

The strap is strong and secure, but I have found twice (which really isn't very much in all this time) that the tripod plate (and therefore the ring that the strap uses to hold onto the camera with) was starting to work its way loose.

I tighten it firmly before I hook on the camera and every once in a while when I remember, I check to make sure it isn't getting looser.

Love mine--no problems

Love mine too, but I've also found once that it was a touch loose. I think the trick is to screw it in so that when it's in the hanging position it is pulling it tighter.

Ditto previous posts - Two Thumbs up for the R-Strap. No problems and I will never go back to a neckstrap.

Interesting. I have no straps on my cameras because they drive me nuts but this one may just get me to use one again.

I used it when I was zip-lining. I haven't got any other pics up but it was handy when I was doing this zipline:

It was a tandem zipline so once I was out I started snapping pictures of my wife. If it holds while you're 300 feet from the ground...

It's a great strap but you really should frequently check it as it can come lose. Some tripod plates (Bogen/Manfrotto) even have a hole to accomadate the strap's screw, so it can attach to the mounting plate and be quickly disconnected to place on the tripod.

Here's the product: //www.blackrapid.com/product/camera-strap/rs-4/

I've always wanted to experiment with one, never have. Looks great.

I can lend you mine when I go to the NYC GTG Robert... I do believe you would really like it.

I use it in conjunction with this Hand Strap rig--closest thing to a perfect set up I have found, for my purposes. The handstrap comes with a plate that fits my tripods perfectly. Pretty sweet.

I am interested in the Spyder Holster, but it is a pricey thing to try out.

I have been looking at that spider thing also.... $$$ yeah but then the r-strap is hardly a bargain for what you get... I use a hand strap 80% or more of the time but have th left side of the camera riged with those ditactable straps to put a nect strap on as it's handy when carrying around. So the spider looks interesting as I prefer the stuff on a belt not a strap....

How does it handle an external flash on the camera? It would seem if it swings too much that a slight impact could break the hot shoe attachment.

I use one to carry a second body when on assignment. I've never had any issues and carry a 1 series body and either a wide angle or a 70-200 lens on it with no issue. The only thing I worry about is beating the second body around a bit while it hangs from my side, but it would do the same with a shoulder strap.
