I thought these photos from the egg challenge were terribly underrated and deserved higher scores. The challenge description said to "be creative and have fun", yet there are some extremely boring egg shots placing higher than these interesting photos, anyway. Here they are.

These are not my top picks for the challenge, these are just the ones that i felt were harshly scored and underrated. If you agree on any of them then do go and leave a comment! I'm sure the photographers would appreciate it.

Keep up the good work guys!

Ello, thanks for the mention. I loved all of those shots, two got 9's from me, the others 6-8.
I found the B&W "disturbing" (who can explain ones psyche?), but no more than many Benetton adverts...it could easily be an advert for something, with the right creative text. I'd like to hear what Andy had in mind with that shot, (and so far he favours B&W) but it's not a train smash if he doesn't. I think voters look at the images often from a personal biased POV, does it whack them in the face, is it colorful, immediately humorous, get the message across in 1 second flat? etc. I'm afraid that that is a saline attitude to have toward something as creative as photography.

I don't mind the 1 - 5 votes I got, but I'd prefer to have comment feedback as to what made it a 1 for some and an 8, 9, 10 from others.

Thanks so much for your thoughts- I'm glad that you enjoyed my image. There were a number of really good shots in the Egg II challenge.

I think my entry would have placed better if I had thought more about the crop while shooting. I could have eliminated the corner shadows.

My final score ended up at 5.25, but at times during the voting it was under 4. Now, maybe it's no ribbon, but I wonder if voters thought it was an illegal shot and voted really low because of that. I think on the 2nd day of voting I received the email from SC asking for me to submit the original. I didn't get the email that it was validated until the day before voting ended.

Does this image really deserve 10 1's; 14 2's; and 14 3's? I sort of like it.

I glued an egg to a paint mixing stick and shot with a wide angle lens on a FF camera. My daughter held the stick with her teeth and I was really close to the egg and manually focused. When I saw the picture I really expected somewhere around a 6.

Left this comment on pic
Will never understand the voters. if I did I suppose I would score 7-8's all the time. Although I gave this a 6 at the time I would give it a 7 now. Its something that grows on you and I suppose it did not have that immediate impact wow factor when I saw it the first time. Just viewing the shot even at first site anybody should be able to see that this is def not a 5...yet this is DPC

Left comment on Tony's pic. I don't understand it either.

ETA: I was just showing Tony's pic to Penny, and her observation was that perhaps many people just found the image "disturbing". In the sense that there's something primal about wiping out a face and leaving a blank canvas where it used to be. And you know, she may be right; that very well may be the answer to the 38 3-or-worse scores. It may be the same type of voting that gives low scores to images of people shooting up heroin.

It I first saw this photo I thought wow that is really creative how did they do that. It definately did not deserves any ones and it should have been in the 6s. Very creative.

I am amazed that the photos at the top of this thread also scored as low as they did. I to thought they were very creative and expected to score higher. Sure hope this doesn't stop everyone's creativity.

I think this is the first challenge that the entry I thought should win did.
