Hi,
I am just wondering if anyone has an older version of Photoshop they would like to sell? If so, send me a note and tell me how much you are asking.
Thanks,
Renee

Is it even legal to sell software secondhand? Just a question but a valid one don't you think?

Of course. Software licenses are generally transferable.

I am pretty sure that the way that it works is that the license is transferrable so long as the first person completely removes the programs from their system and doesn't have any backup copies to use.
Good Luck

If you want to buy it so that you can upgrade cheaply, you had better make sure it hasn't already been registered - I think you only get to register it for one user (and I don't think Adobe let you transfer licenses)
The Photoshop CS license is actually pretty liberal, letting you install it on two computers for one license, as long as it only gets used one at a time. (although mixed Mac/ PC users are not so fortunate) |

just call them and they'll walk you through a transfer.
Good luck.

How old, what platform? I might be able to find one at work which came bundled with a scanner which we never used, but I can't remember the version right now.
If the idea is to (eventually) upgrade, you might check and see if Adobe has an upgrade path from Elements, in which case I'd probably get that, unless you need to work in CMYK for print. |

Hi GeneralE,
I am flexible on versions. I am using XP right now. I have Elements, but I am finding some of its limitations and I thought I'd try to work in Photoshop. I wasn't too concerned with upgrading at this time, but I'll investigate a potential upgrade through Elements, to see if it exists.
Thanks kindly,
Renee

The only problem with that link is the order page is unsecure...
If you look at the address bar it should say https://.....etc
but it's just // unsecure...
I was looking at a similar offer for used adobe products not too long ago and ran into the same type of unsecure order page, didn't feel comfortable entering my credit card...

it seems fishy that they seem to need to defend themselves at least 5 times in the FAQ that it is not illegal.. hm...

If it sounds too good to be true ($$$-wise) it most likely is! I bought Word Perfect ver. 10 a few months ago off eBay from a setup like this - when the software arrived in a plain envelope it was an obvious copy - it did have a registration number, but the labeling was just too amateurish.

Looks like a pirate website??? |

Yes, it does look like a pirated site. If you look at the URLS it refers to, all the search engines, dealtime, etc. it looks like some sites were hijacked like "spoof" sites. You can get to the actual sites in some cases from the links, but the URL's don't match.

Your software paleontologist has unearthed a "new" copy of PS 2.5.1/Macintosh. Somehow, I think you'll learn more using Elements. |

Thanks GeneralE. I appreciate you looking and trying for me. I REALLY appreciate it! You are right, I think I am better of with PhotoShop Elements for now. Thanks again.
As for funky websites, I think I'll skip it. Ebay has also been untrustworthy for me too. I purchased a version of PSP and got a copied disk. I told that person off and got a refund immediately.
I think I'll stick with PhotoShop Elements for now : )
