I know I rarely post my scores here (mostly because I don't enter as many challenges as I'd like), but this:

Katherine, I wrestled for 17 years and I still do from time to time. I might even be coaching it at my sons school. I even had a scholarship offer until I blew out my shoulder, two children and twenty five years with the same women I met in high school and I'm still not gay, so I guess I'm telling you that wrestling's not gay.

MAX!

BTW nice action shot :)

At the time of near death, nothing but fear, life flashing before your eyes happens at 3AM, after. Yesterday looking down 50 feet at what most certainly would have ended this world had it not been for a lucky grab, divine intervention who’s to know. Oh sure there is safety equipment but it does no good when one has not the time to use it (wake up call)!!! Why mention it here, I think it best not to talk about it to my wife, still I am a social animal of the human kind. My life I rate as a C, but there is still timeâ€Â¦

No-no, Just a few stupid mistakes at work, nothing intentional, but on a bridge deck is not a place to be stupid..

I was installing the forms for Intermediate diaphragms while standing on Plywood and took one step too much backwards. For some silly reason forgot to hook up my harness, a mistake I doubt I will ever make again..

certainly a wake up call!! Thank God you're alive to wake up! Safety equipment, safety equipment, safety equipment (hear the chant) safety equipment... oh, and stop taking the cold medicine that puts you out when you're on the job!

Colds are enough to addle the brain, no meds here but vitamin C and Zink, I blame the Zink. My post was about a life rated average at best, my thoughts are now about how to improve.

Shit happens, Alan. The wake up call comes at regular intervals in ways such as you describe or when you drill through floors without checking for mains cables, drainage, etc. It sort of helps to keep up the mantra about whatever it costs to take the extra time and or precaution - your life is still worth more.
Got it? Now get back to work :)

argh! we're expecting 6 inches of snow tomorrow! Snow in the south is kind of funny; it shuts down everything! Ooh wait, pretty stick snow pictures!

stick snow? Is that a southern term? I've never heard it.

oops! Sticky snow! I'm not quite awake yet :P

They were calling for a couple inches here, but changed it to flurries. It's bitter cold though. I hate the cold. One of the hoses on my less than 6 month old radiator sprang a leak on my car last night. I lost all my antifreeze and it was too late to go buy some. I'm hoping my radiator isn't frozen now because I had to fill the radiator with water to get home.

We haven't had much accumulation - but yesterday the snow was blowing complete horizontally at one point.
Seriously, left-to-right across. The kids got a kick out of watching that, took them a bit to make the connection to the sideways snow and the wind.
Glad we were inside for that. Poor Brad was outside on his forklift unloading a truck during the worst of it, said the forklift kept sliding and spinning around on him because of the wet ground and the wind !

Now, boys and girls, please keep me in your thoughts tomorrow - as me and my bundle of jittery nerves are taking my camera and gear and taking photos of our first wedding. Thankfully, my new flash came in yesterday (I am THRILLED with it - it can do some funky stuff I hadn't even THOUGHT of when I ordered it !). I think I'm going to leave my reflectors behind, I'm not so confident with them yet, and I don't have a second/assistant/friend/helper. Good thing - I start the day off by joining the bride for a pedicure in the morning !

Guess I should head out tonight and invest in a pair of dress pants. I thought I had a pair here, but they're a few kids old and don't fit around the hips anymore (even though my weight is the same, it's not in the same locations). *sigh*

Anything else I should think about, that I would otherwise completely forget or just simply not know to do ?

Lea, get a good night's sleep, dress up, make sure you have lots of spare batteries, then go forth and shoot. You're a good photog, just concentrate on getting the shots, just relax. Don't be afraid to herd people around and tell them where they need to be etc. Good luck!

I wouldn't go buy new pants. Whatever you do, wear something in which you're comfortable. The stupid thing I've discovered is, that no matter what you're doing, you do it better when you're comfortable. You don't want to crouch down to get a shot of the flower girl looking up at the bride from a low vantage point and worry about whether you're new pants are gapping in the back and showing butt crack.

Other than that, you're going to do spectacularly well! Remember to relax and enjoy yourself. If you have a good time, they'll have a good time, if you stress, they'll stress. So just tell yourself "it is what it is and it'll be a blast!"

My only other options are jeans and ankle-length skirts and sweatpants.

I don't mind getting a pair of dressy pants - we've got a decent "Value Village" close by. I won't be spending a fortune, or buying pants I'll be worrying about after the fact.
01/29/2010 10:07:03 AM · #2125
Then get thee to Value Village! :-) As colorcarnival pointed out, make sure they're comfy and will stay put.

Remember, confidence is everything. My teenage student has a horse that is dead calm and very rarely spooks. So when she tells me that he's being spooky, I remind her that if she's feeling at all nervous or worried about things, he will pick up on it and mirror it. Self-fulfilling prophecy....so tell yourself tonight, as you go to sleep, that tomorrow everything will work out great and everyone will like your pictures. Good luck!
