Must check out those links later, Jeb! And yep as I'm a horse trainer, I always thought I should have a username that was both interesting and horse-related. Besides, as my original username was hotshot7 - after the one and only horse I owned, and 7 just because - I certainly wasn't a hotshot at the time! :-)

ETA: there's also the term, to snaffle someone or something - British usage, basically means to nab or scoop them up quickly. Think there's a few other uses for the word, and I think I had heard of the WWI artist, but that was after I chose snaffles as my username.

We were so excited yesterday! My son, jcar, who's 10 years old has shot for some challenges on DPC last year. He entered one of his photos in the 100th anniversary of scouting contest for the Boy's Life magazine, and he got honorable mention!! If any of you get the scouting magazine, boy's life, it's on page 19!

Here's his thread: I got published before my mom!

I'm bored! Any ideas on how to entertain myself while flat on my back in a recliner?? I love just going for a car ride with my camera. Now a 3 mile car ride is like torture.

Ouch, poor Terry. Nothing worse than longing to get out there and being stuck esp for physical reasons. You could always write a few critiques, though you've probably done so already. There's also reading of course. Get well soon!

Hang in there Terry, I was laid up for 6 months once because of a herniated disk and it was very frustrating so I'm there with you on being bored. I did a lot of sleeping and reading. I'm happy for you to be able to get into a recliner, I could only make it to the floor in the dining room. The dog was happy, my wife and me not so much.

Keeping you in my thoughts.

I wish I was better at critiquing. I suck! This laptop isn't really good for looking at photos either but...I think I will start leaving some and working on my commenting skillz!

A word to the wise - a 4x10 'backdrop' is NOT large enough to photograph a family portrait where there are 6 people !

I'm always happy to do that!!! I'll even give him two extra! It's fun that it all started here, though. He's had fun entering challenges in the past. Though he did enter a best of 2009 shot. He is so incredibly close to it making his front page; I'm hoping for nice voters in the next 2 days!

I do feel bad for you, you must be going stir crazy. I've lost track of things, though. Were you able to get help for it? Did you ever try a chiropractor?
