I stopped smoking on Sun, 28 Jun 2009 13:35:00 GMT.
It has been 22 weeks, 2 days, 8 hours, 51 minutes and 21 seconds since I quit.
I have saved $ 863.16 by choosing not to smoke 3596 cigarettes.
I feel the same Deb, having troubles the pas few days. But still no glitch.
I keep dreaming about smoking. Feeling no guilt at that moment, but when I wake up.... not knowing exactly if it was a dream or if it was real.
2 weeks to go and then 6 months. Who would've thought that! Next week I'm getting a tattoo for different kinds of reasons. Quitting smoking is one, "saving" the money for the tattoo is another one ;-) |

I know exactly what you mean about the dreams, Hanneke! I always think "Oh dear, do I have to start counting over again now? Or is this just a dream?" And lately it has been a bit worse now and then. I think this is about the time that we begin to forget that we've quit or something, and we'll be going along, doing our thing, and WHAM - time for a cigarette - most natural thing in the world, until we remember we don't smoke anymore.
Glad to see you still hanging in there, my dear! |

Hello all, glad to see your all hanging in there.
Well I climbed on the scale this morning and I'm now 220lbs!!!! That makes 35lbs lost and 20lbs to go before the end of December. I think I can do it now that I've gone back to Judo and Isaac is finished filming Dino Dan, I have some time to concentrate on me for a little bit. This is the upside, the down side is I have nothing that fits me anymore, not to mention the plumbers crack and I'm an electrician and a carpenter. I now spend half the day pulling up my pants even with the belt on and 4 new holes drilled in it they still fall down when I put tools in my pockets.
The other day I was packing up at work and I walked into the house with my arms loaded up with tools and my pockets were full as well when I turned the corner and my pants started falling down, I couldn't drop the tools I was carrying because of the hardwood flooring (and the cost of the tools) so I had to keep going on into the room that I use to put my stuff. (the corner of their newly built living room.) Imagine my surprise when I entered the room laboured with the weight of the tools both in my hands and in my pockets and the home owner was there with three of her friends showing off my handy work. I was greeted with "Oh and here he is now. Max these are my fri......." "Oh my, what happened to your pants?"
Thank you Mom for telling me to 'ALWAYS' wear clean underwear. After I put down the tools, because by this time they had already seen me standing there with my arms loaded up and my pants falling down I figured this is no time to be shy or embarrassed just try to salvage what little dignity you have left and move on. I walked towards the four ladies with an outstretched hand, "Pleased to meet you ladies, my name's Max and I've been doing a little renovation to Crystal and James's house."
Now let me tell you I was not the only red face in the room. All four of them stood there in stunned wonder and couldn't speak and one by one they reached out to shake my hand. "I'm Judy." "I'm Shelly." and "I'm Christine but you can call me Chris for sh..." After shaking their hands I did the only thing I could think of, I said "Does anybody mind if I pull up my pants?" I never thought a line like that would ever come out of my mouth let alone be used as an icebreaker.
Laughter abound and Kleenex all around we finished the day with a tour of the place discussing the way things were and what I did to improve on the house and the amount of work that has been done. The ladies were all business and so was I. It's nice to know that I can still think on my feet and I'm a good enough salesman to walk into a room full of women with my pant down and still get work.
So all in all this whole exercise has been great and I have to give a big shout out the wonderful people at Calvin Klein for a fine fitting pair of boxer briefs with the pouch for the boys in front. Comfort no matter what the occasion. Now that's a picture.
All the best to everyone. Keep up the great work.
MAX! |

I had lofty intentions when this began in May, but havent replied much in this thread. I have been able to lose 10 lbs though (actually, I lost 15, but but I gained 5 first ;). I am not sitting at 225. I still hope to drop another 10 before new years. |

Congrats to those who met their goals or even got nearby...it's difficult, I know. I wish I had seen this thread back in the summer...I am on a weight loss journey with Weight Watchers and am halfway to my goal. That's what I get for disappearing for months at a time from around here. ;)

Hello everyone, I forgot to post on the thread that I have indeed met my goal and I've lost the full 55lbs.
I'm now doing another 10-20lbs just to finish things off. I went back to Judo just a little while ago and I feel great.
I have nothing that fits me anymore and that's just fine with me.
I'll post an after photo as soon as I take one.
All the best to everyone and continued success.

11 days without cigarettes... 20 lbs lost, 30 lbs from high school weight with a 20 year reunion coming up.
I invested in an e-cigarette this time. I'd never heard of them before until I bought a disposable one at the local head shop. It was $20, was kinda disappointing, and I was done with it within a day so I looked into the real thing. $60 plus another $60 for the 'filters'. I chose the Titan because it seemed to have the most 'smoke' (water vapor) and it gives you the same throaty feeling when you inhale. You can choose anywhere from very high nicotine (NOT RECOMMENDED!) to no nicotine. I got one low nicotine green tea flavor and one no nicotine lemon flavor (tobacco flavor was my first choice until I tried the better flavors). All should last 6 months or so.
Seems a bit like a cheat, but I am experiencing all the positive effects of not smoking without any cravings. It's legal indoors, too, though I'll probably feel too silly to do it.
ETA: Wow, Max! That's wonderful!

Hey guys! WAY TO GO, MAX!!! I can't wait to see the pictures - get those shot and posted, will ya?
And glad to see you back on the wagon, Cynthia. I'd heard of the e-cigs, but they didn't have them where I was at the time. Minimize your use of the nicotine one then start using just the non-nicotine one and you'll have the battle won!
And yep, still smoke-free here. You hanging in there, Hanneke? |

@ Max: Fantastic! Hang on there :D
@ Cynthia: That sounds great, good you found something that works for you :)
@ Deb: Oh, no worries here. The dreams are dissapearing, the last week I hadn't have the craving for a smoke, I'm good :D
Right now I'm on a (self-invented ;-)) diet, for all the weight I've gainded (± 6-8 kilo).
So, this is going great. Up to the new challenge: losing 6 kilo's ;-) |

So it's been a bit more then a month now since I'm on a diet. I'm training every week and besides that really quit with eating too much. Instead I get water. That helps!
Right now I've lost almost 4 kilo's, in 6 weeks. Very happy! 3 more to go :D
Oh, and:
I stopped smoking on Sun, 28 Jun 2009 13:35:00 GMT.
It has been 34 weeks, 5 days, 8 hours, 23 minutes and 25 seconds since I quit.
I have saved $ 1343.29 by choosing not to smoke 5597 cigarettes.
Yay! |

So, is this still a go? I quit at the end of August, at first gradually and painfully, and then pfft, that was it. I was greatly inspired by Melethia's full blown accounts of her own tribulations. A matter of credibility I guess.
So, here it is 6 months and about a 15% weight gain later. Never had a weight issue before, and I am continually astonished at this new central feature. Great frequent long walks have no effect. (I might try photography!) |

I can SO relate to the weight gain/not had this problem before/no effect from exercise bit! So sorry about the impetus to stop smoking, though I do suppose that is better for both of us in the long run. At least I am hoping.
My bike riding has not stalled the weight increase - hasn't even slowed it. The middle is expanding. Rapidly. Why is it the weight can't go somewhere a bit more useful, perhaps? Why isn't there a real life version of the liquify tool?
And how much is 4 kilos anyway? Good for you, Hanneke! |
