Here is a question from my son's photography homework that I can't figure out the answer to.

"A portrait that is planned is known as a _______________.

Can anybody complete the above sentence please?

Photo Session? Sitting? Shoot?

I would guess it would be either a Study, or a Still.

One that isn't planned is a Candid.

ETA: Also, maybe, a Pose or Posing.

I looked up antonyms for candid but came up with nothing that described a portrait very well.

a sitting? portraiture? a candid that is planned is known as a portrait - maybe the teach is all wangdoodled up.

If it's the same as in my class then it would be a 'formal shot'. An unplanned picture is informal or candid.

A portrait which is unplanned is known as a mug shot. ;-)

Photograph?
Or maybe, plan, because it's not a photograph yet.
