Taking photos of the shuttle launching at night is a grand opportunity. Here is some important information for those who wish to do so.

Taken from spaceweather.com:

FINAL NIGHT LAUNCH OF THE SHUTTLE: On Feb. 7th at 4:39 am EST, space shuttle Endeavour will blast off from the Kennedy Space Center on a mission (STS-130) to the International Space Station. It will be the final night launch of NASA's soon-to-be-retired shuttle program. After STS-130, only four missions remain and all of them will leave Earth in broad daylight. Readers, if you are ever going to travel to Florida to witness a launch, Feb. 7th would be a good choice.

Wow... 4:30 in the morning -- that'll be quite a wake-up call for the region :)

If you have ever thought about going to a launch, I can't begin to tell you what an amazing sight it is. I had a chance to see it from the press area in May 2000 (the launch was just minutes before sunrise). I rank it up there with the birth of my daughter as one of the most amazing things I've ever witnessed.

I would love to see a night launch...I was able to see a day launch when I was extremely young and the space shuttle was in it's infancy.... I don't really remember the launch but I was told it was amazing....
