I settle for this explanation or the 10-explanation. Even though I doubt it will be the last one of those 2.

I had some really good votes today that were counteracted by a couple of 1's

I got to thinking about this again, and was wondering if this voter thought that in order to post their vote they had to put something in the comments section otherwise it wouldn't register. If they want to leave a pertinent comment they do...if they have nothing to say or offer they feel they have to put an x in the box in order to continue with the vote. I know...I watch way too much Criminal Minds and have formed a profiling habit. LOL.

Some things are for sure:
He's got us all confused
He's got a lot of extra views since his famous x-sign
He's got us all talking about him :D

Well he's been a member since Dec. 15th 2003, cast 966 votes and made 181 comments so I think he knows he can vote without leaving a comment

the "X" must mean X-ellent shot hahaha :D
12/10/2009 04:10:07 AM · #113
The X means this guy is playing with you and giving you a ball to through around while he is watching and laughing. All what I did is clicked "that his comment was helpful" to make him wonder what I understood from his X.

Which is : He is a low-key, unprivileged, and a laking attention guy; who is sitting in his (wherever) trying to fill himself with him self.

Cheers

so tempting to go through and leave everyone a "y" now just to upstage him lol

I thought the same thing -- let's all go leave letters! Whoever gets a full alphabet wins!
12/10/2009 09:15:10 AM · #116
So much excitement over a little letter ;) I thought the "kiss" or roman 10 interpretation were a nice positive note...let's leave it at that.

FWIW, SC has contacted the poster and let them know that cut and paste ("cookie cutter") comments are not allowed and should be deleted or changed to a comment regarding each specific photo. Though someone certainly doesn't need to cut and paste to put an x comment in, you get the idea.

I tried an experiment once (and only once, learned THAT lesson) with leaving emoticons for comments. That didn't go over to well either. :-D

Although I did have a system and described it as follows (from the Bummer scores thread):

Originally posted by glad2badad:

...for those who'd like to know, there is a score attached to your smiley and it ranged like this:

:-D is outstanding, equating to a 9 or 10 score.
:-) is something I liked, scoring from 5 to 8.
:-} has potential, liked it, but not quite there, scoring from 4 to 6.
:-| ok, but not really something I liked or it didn't fit the challenge IMO, score from 3 to 6.
:-? didn't understand the photo or it's connection to the challenge, score from 3 to 6.
:-/ didn't really like it for the challenge, or was very title dependent, score from 2 to 5.
:-[ didn't like it at all for either image quality or challenge fit, score 1-3.

::pout::...I like my little "x"...I want to keep the comment in my comments list!

P.S.

However, please feel free to delete all the "DNMC" comments...;-)

I took a major hit overnight. I was around 6.85/77 votes when I went to bed, and dropped to 6.53/99 votes when I checked this noon. Rebounded to 6.56 with the 100th vote, but sheeeeee......
