Great idea for a new line of side-challenges.

I went with a recrop and enhanced yellow:

I'm glad people have liked them. I was originally envisioning the grain one in color like I said in the comments, but then preferred the look of some of the film grain emulations in Silver Efex. You can't seem to just do the grain emulations without doing B/W too (unless I'm just being dumb... could be). I also added grain using Color Efex before Silver. I've just always felt that crumbly or dingy scenes are enhanced by B/W. Adds drama and sometimes tragedy to that type very well, IMO. It also helps that I'm probably better with my control of tone than hue. Either way, I think B/W adds drama damn near everything. |

This has been very inteesting, to see the different edits of the same images. And also to have a chance to edit someone else's images. I had a lot of fun. Thanks Jeb! [eta] I used CS3 only, 'cos I don't have Topaz.

		| By the way, Jeb, I'm not saying I like the b&w (of the windows photo) better than your color version, I just think the b&w emphasizes composition while the color has other appealing aspects. I definitely think the topaz rocked on the steering wheel photo. |

I like the tighter crop on this. I dunno if it's that, or something else, but the edit seems to have brought out some depth in the view.

I see what AJ was talking about now.....

I kinda think the point of this is to show how you might like it better using a different editing process, crop, conversion, whatever.

It just makes me twitch that I'm not at my home 'puter so I can play with B&W conversions.

I wanna try that on my truck!

Some people, doing this sort of shooting, will not alter or rearrange anything in the scene. So that's one possibility. Other possibility is that it would leave a pattern in the dust showing where it was, or even that removing it would have disturbed the dust around it?

Click on thumb, click on "view full-sized image", and THAT one is not protected.

Really enjoy editing other peoples photos. It would make for a fascinating challenge i think.

E.T.A- They are both fantastic photographs Jeb and i think you did a wonderful job editing them in the first place.

E.(again).T.A - I forgot to post my steps.

Photoshop - Played with curves - Adjustment layer of Tonal Contrast in Nik- Software - Made another layer as a Black and White image set to multiply and blended - Added some grain save and import to...
Lightroom - Bit of a crop - more playing with curves and colour

Yup. It ceased operation a couple years ago. Was fun while it lasted. We posted to the website, and we voted in the website.

Edited other folks' images and voted to see which one was the best liked re-edit?

 That sounds cool!

Wanna do that here with the folks who edit?

I actually thought about proposing that, but I didn't know if it'd fly.

I could try different edits, too!

		| Sounds good to me. Perhaps the person whose edit is chosen as the favourite could offer up the next unedited file to play with. |
