What if people in the world had 4 arms instead of 2?
As I was driving to Little Caesars this afternoon to pick up some lunch I drove past a construction company building a house. Thinking back at all the things I've built I thought to myself "Man if I had 2 more arms I could hold this board, mark this board, and adjust this board all at the same time". Then I really started thinking about how different things would be. Like Basketball, there would be such things as "triple dribble", or "Quad dribble". Then I realized that I would be able to tie both shoes at the same time and save all of about 5 seconds on my life.
After thinking I was stupid for even thinking like this I realized on my way home that if I had 4 hands I could have one hand on the steering wheel (instead of my knee), one hand grabbing a napkin, the other hand shoving a slice of pizza in my mouth and still have a hand left over to catch any cheese that might be falling.
So how awesome would it be if we all had 4 hands instead of 2? What could you do with an extra set of hands?
ETA: "Man the crap that goes through my head"

I think if we had 4 arms, the title of this thread would be "what if we had 2 arms?" |

Think about sex with 4 arms. That would be weird.

you'd have to assume that the brain could reasonably function all of those extra hands as well as we can currently use our left and right. because if not, 2 extra could actually be a problem. also, would we still be left handed or right handed? would both right hands be more dominant than both left? or maybe you'd be top and bottom handed instead, so for some, their top left and right would be the stronger... then you could have all sorts of combinations of handedness too... top right and bottom left might be kind of cool.
i wonder how it would effect desk design, and if it would be possible to type a paper and play video games at the same time. |

HAHAHA I thought about that too, but it was the other way around, It was what if we had 6 arms instead of 4. hahahaha

Well I didn't think about that until now but it would be easier to hold your partner against the wall, or doing pushups on her. Hmmm the possibilities. You could hold their head and butt with both hands at the same time, hahahahaha

Would you shake a 1 hand or shake both the top and bottom hands at the same time?

hahaha I wonder how they would make the seats in a car, Maybe a hole in the back rest to put your arm through so you can smack your kids in the back all while paying attention to everything else that is going on around you.

hahahahahaha oh man, i almost laughed out loud during my telecon. this is great.
ok, so if we're going with 2 left and 2 right, would your bottom arms be the same length as your top? if so, they may drag on the ground. although, it would be great for people with back problems because they'd have to bend over way less to pick stuff up. |

yeah you got a point. But it still funny to (me) to think about all this. Kinda takes a load off .
Think about the sound of an audience, it would be twice as loud. Would you clap top to bottom hands, or left to right, or a crisscross clap.
Would "the clap" be considered the "the claps"
WTF

it would be nice to have different levels of clapping.
i think pregnant women would have to clap right to right and left to left. a large belly, especially one with a child with 4 arms might prohibit being able to reach the 2 bottom hands together.
still laughing so hard about this. |

good point! you could hug an adult and a child at the same time.
also, babies would be more dangerous while crawling around. their extra hands would leave the top 2 available for grabbing stuff while the bottom 2 were on the ground.. |

Utter chaos in the garment, chair and manicure industries; traditional handcuffs and straightjackets would be rendered useless, and we don't have enough nostrils to pick. Smacks, smacks, smacks, smacks Diver for the stupid idea. |

You wouldn't be able to walk and chew gum and pat your head and rub your stomach and snap your fingers and dial a phone at the same time.
Performers would feel twice as appreciated by the applause.
You could give more people the finger at once.
Cheap Trick's guitar would make sense.
We could count to twenty earlier.
American Sign Language would be like those fast talking Micro Machines commercials.

No more need for a flash bracket!
I could ride my bicycle and take photos at the same time.
I could play piano duets by myself.
Home repairs would take on an entirely different dimension.
...and I'd reserve one set of hands for eating and use the others for opening doors, handling ucky stuff, shaking hands etc. |

The phrase "on the other hand" would be rendered useless.
Backhanded compliments would hurt twice as much.
People could be "polydextrous"
Drivers would text, talk on the phone, drink a soda and put on makeup while driving.
Politicans could have their hands in four other people's pockets at the same time.
