I know alot DPC'ers are also on Facebook. Just wondering if you are for or against the latest version that seems to have struck a nerve with most users, I personally do not like it and hope they change it back to the way it was until they come up with a more user friendly upgrade.

Anyone here actually like it the way it is now. I have not seen one single person in favor of it yet. I am also a bit surprised that no one has talked about it here.

Yeah, but you can change it back to the way it was before. Caught this suggestion from one of my friends. (an actual friend, not just a FB friend!)

"For everyone who hates the new FB layout... there is an easy fix... on the menu at the top left, click on MORE, then drag STATUS UPDATES to the top, above NEWS FEED. After dragging to the top, click on it. That becomes your default and HOME is like before."

yes, this does work...there was another one to set your reads from 500 to 2K I think...but I couldn't ever find that...but this one does work...and for the record...I wish they would stop buggering FB up with their changes...especially when no one likes them as a consensus...

That is only to show when people update their status, Everything else you need to go into the news and live news feeds. Which are totally screwed up out of order and out of time.

they really mucked it up, Hopefully they listen to the majority on this one and fix it right. Otherwise it is an ideal time for someone else to launch a new site and they can bury facebook next to myspace in the old trend graveyard.

That's progress though! I actually like the status update only bit, saves seeing all the other crap that you don't want to see :) each to their own I guess.

I'm fairly new to Facebook, having opened an account about a month ago now, and not knowing what the difference is between the "old" and "new" layouts I just tried the fix listed by Sarah and I like the new default better than the status updates page. I like seeing all the "stuff" rather than just plain text talk. Maybe I'm missing something. ???

that is because your still somewhat new. Wait until you get a few dozen friends and you start bugging out when you have to read about every time a friend of a friend of a friend is now friends with someone you dont know, It gets crazy after awhile. That is what most people are complaining about. It was more customizable before the change. We had a bit more control over what we wanted to see.

What seems to me to happen is that FB changes, everyone complains, gets used to it, then when it changes wants to go back to the way it was before it changes.

This last change bothers me less than the others. The only thing that is bugging me is that I have it set one way, and when I log back in, it has reverted back to the news feed (that i don't like).

So, while i'm not as comfortable with it as I have been in the past, it doesn't bother me too badly.

Ahhh...I see what you mean. I've set mine to only immediate family (parents, siblings, and in-laws), and set permissions to only friends, NOT friends of friends. I can imagine that could easily get out of control.

If you follow Bugzeye's steps and drag the status updates to the top of the list...it stays...mine doesn't change...And I know that things must change...but the last one (about 6 months ago) really changed how I post things...now all I do is send a "PM" to the individuals instead of posting on the board.

There's a Facebook group for this:
I AUTOMATICALLY HATE THE NEW FACEBOOK HOME PAGE

The group's desciption is:

I HATE CHANGE AND EVERYTHING ASSOCIATED WITH IT

I WANT EVERYTHING TO REMAIN STATIC THROUGHOUT MY ENTIRE LIFE

I DO NOT KNOW WHAT I WANT FROM THINGS I CANNOT CONTROL

BY LOGICAL DEDUCTION I AUTOMATICALLY OPPOSE THE NEW FACEBOOK STREAMING HOME PAGE

IF I HAVE TO EXPLAIN THIS GROUP IT IS NO LONGER FUNNY

Apparently, even Mark Zuckerberg has joined!

This change actually makes it more like what Facebook used to be before the LAST change, so it's kind of ironic (and amusing) to see everyone bitching.

I wouldn't mind the live feed...if 1) I'd get them all... and 2) they'd be in time/date order...mine was all buggered up...maybe they will fix that...

Facebook is so 2006.

I am totally confused and don't now what I am seeing anymore. It now looks incomplete, unsorted and totally messed up. I friggin start to hate it. It was simple and good before.

You know, that's interesting, because for the last year, I have had nothing but ordering/timing problems on my status updates and news feeds. I'd frequently get updates from MONTHS before, where new stuff would just disappear into the ether. In the last couple of days? Everything's worked IMMACULATELY.

I'll reserve judgment until I can actually get and stay logged in for any length of time. Maybe it's just coincidence, but ever since the change I get timeouts or profile not available messages, and I have two new friend requests that the site won't let me respond to. At feast I don't see dead people.

count me in the 'hate the new look' group ... I am now on the status updates only feed ... I don't care who people are now friends with and all of that other crap ... the most irritating part is that it's all out of order time-wise ... I loved the "show X new posts" thing ... now that's gone :(
