The Bad News: I missed last weeks open challenge for only the second time in 12 months. I had my ideas all sorted and had even done the preparation, but then work got in the way!! What made it worse is that Lutchenko took full advantage and won the blue. He has now taken the lead in our own unofficial race.
The good news: I am slightly ahead of you in this weeks challenge Will. It could even be a PM and a "Len Goodman" (Thats jinxed it!)

You are REQUIRED to vote as if they are legal. If you question whether a rule has been violated, click on the appropriate button during voting.
By the way, this is a special rules set for the triptych challenge, so three separate images that were each edited in basic editing are to be combined.
From the Voting Rules:
"You may not:
give an entry a lower score because you believe it violates the Challenge Rules." |
Thanks for that. Still leaves me in a quandary how to vote those I don't consider to be real triptychs. |
A question for you...what do you consider a triptych? The definition I am using for this challenge is the challenge description...always a good place to start. |
...which is divided into three sections which are hinged or connected.
E.g. In [link removed for site rules reasoning] I can't see three sections which could be hinged - nor are they connected.
Is my interpretation too narrow? |
Erich
I realise you are new to this site. I also note you are an Aussie, so English shouldn't be an issue for you. A triptych just means an image made up of three portions from one to three separate images. The three images usually have something in common...ie, location, subject, season, model, etc....hence the hinging or connected terminology.
As a newbie you may not be aware that it is against the rules to discuss or reveal anoyones entry during voting. I would highly suggest removing your link before SC come in growling for being made to work before their morning coffee!!!! They can get realllllllllllllll nasty...especially that Scalvert bloke...although the rest of the day he is just a pussycat!!!!

I love all the comments and the fav. If placement was by comments I'd be getting a ribbon, but with only a 6.3543 I doubt I'll even make top ten. So, while I'm tickled pink with the comments and fav, I also feeling a bit down as the shot took a lot of patience and wasn't the easiest to pull off. I had really hoped this would finally get me a 7.0 There's still time ....come on voters!!! |

I obviously don't get this. Is there any way to withdraw my votes?
Or should I give everybody a 10 so that my votes will be thrown out? |

Why don't you go back and vote again? A few possible ways to vote would be:
Vote on the quality of the set of images that make up the triptych, or how they are put together and connected as a theme, or how they reach you emotionally, or how much you like them, or how well they were taken on a technical and compositional basis, etc. Good luck. |

Yay! I got a Favorite. And some great comments so i'm happy. Would be cool to see it slip over the 6 again for the finish but it's all good so far. |

Mine was a failed first effort and last minute submission with what I had salvaged. Personally I think it's bordering DNMC. The score is about where I thought it would end up but the 1 Favorite and 1 Wish List are boggling my mind!!!

Having just been through the shots and given a 7+ to more than 25 of the entries, there must be a whole bunch of photographers with a 7+ average lurking in the background with their fingers crossed. I bet this is going to be like the Deep DOF challenge where one needs a 7 to even make the top 10.

I think you are right about a 7 to crack the top ten. There is some excellent work in this challenge (as there is in the other open challenge this week). It is great to see this type of quality of work. It makes it much more fun to enter when you know the quality of images is top notch. Good work folks! |

Holding against that. My shot is really faaaar from touching 7, yet I have 2 favs, 1 wishlist and so many comments I rarely had before at this stage of voting. My guess is the blue ribboner will barely score above 7 and you'll need 6.5 to get into top 10. |
