The most fun I ever had in a long time was pulling up at a light in a '57 Rolls Silver Wraith, and bellowing out the window at the big-eyed people staring, "YO! You guys got any cheap yellow mustard?"

Not me. I think Subway is pretty good, though I do prefer Quiznos. What I am actually a fast food snob about is pizza.

I agree about Quiznos. Admittedly, Subway meats are pretty rancid, so I limit myself to tuna, which hasn't made me too sick yet. I mainly like it because it's right next to the office and there's never a line-up. That could be bad sign...

I looooove Subway. I've been craving subway all day. I only ever get the spicy italian or the veggie delight so I can't speak for the other meats but I've never experienced any problems with thier veggies or thier bread, well...or the cheese either for that matter, but I only ever get provolone. I guess I'm not that picky....., I think it's great.

I've had a similar situation as the OP though at chick-fil-a. When I was 18, this one guy used to always give me twice the amount of chicken nuggets. I was so flattered until I found out he did the same thing for one of my friends. I sent a male friend(now my husband) in to see if he got double. he didn't. So I guess I was kinda special, but I just wasn't special enough to be the only girl he was giving extra meat too. ;P

It always kinda bothered me how employees at Quiznos weigh the meat portions out right in front of you, slowly taking bits away from your sandwich until it is the exact, profitable weight. Can't they do that before hand or in the back or something?

I think most fast sub-wich restaurants have their own merits and pitfalls... but I guess I am sorta biased towards Subway since I worked there for 2 years a long time ago... when I first started working there, my boss didn't really care if we took food, so I ate a LOT of Subway... a lot...

Bahaha!

That reminds me of another not-so-special moment in my life...

Many moons ago, in my youth, I was out to a bar with my girlfriend and a few of her female friends. We were all sitting at a round table when I started to feel suggestive carressing on my inner thigh. But my girlfriend wasn't sitting next to me, it was one of her friends.

I was a bit shocked and moved out of range of the carressing. When the girl went off to the washroom I told my girlfriend what had happened. She started laughing hysterically as it was her foot reaching past her friend, and her friend was totally innocent.

Of course my girlfriend told her friends what I'd said as soon as they got back to the table and they all laughed and laughed and laughed at me.

OMG you poor, poor people....

The best frickin sandwiches in the world are made in Ottawa, at DiRienzo's on Gladstone St near Preston. The bread is fresh and crusty and varied, you tell them what you want (make mine a #16) and the meats and cheese etc all taste great. Fresh fresh fresh. And irregardless of which one you choose, THEY ARE $4 CDN APIECE!!!!!!

Haven't been back to Subway since, nor do I plan to, not even for a free cookie on Tuesdays. Which I never got anyway even if I had a male server.

Every town/ city has more than one of these type places - a 'mom and pop' shop that does it right. This is where people should be going instead of wasting their money and calories on mass produced fast food.

I'm sure the rest of that night went well...

Unfortunately, nope, not every town has one. We have a couple of small mom and pop restaurants that only the locals seem to like, but nothing in the way of a sub shop (that I know of).

That said, there is one Subway (out of at least 5) that is really good. The other 4, not so much so.

Please. We have a Mediterranean market that makes some world class sub sandwiches, with the finest deli meats and cheeses, and they are pretty cheap, and I like them, but I also really like Subway, because it's a MASS of food for about the same price, and sometimes the inner-ghetto in me calls out and demands sustenance.

I will never, no matter how many much tastier foods there are in the world, give up my once-in-a-while double meat BMT with lettuce, a few pickles, mounds of cheese, and Frank's Red Hot.

NEVER.

A toasted regular grinder, from a family owned pizza and grinder shop in small town New England. The taste is unmatched anywhere.

There are no less than a dozen excellent small sub shops within a half hour's drive. You have to allow that it takes 15 minutes for ne to get down off the mountain, but then, many are around. Half are pizza shops with the delectable pizza-type dough subs, with mouth-watering imported meats like Genoa salami & cappicola, the others are genuine sub shops with crusty rolls and homemade goodness.

There are Subways & Quiznos here, but.....

The first time I had Subway was in Bannf. I really liked it. Then they started opening up stores in Australia. I took my parents toone, and we were not imnpressed.
Then they started opeing stores in here in Japan. I've been a couple of times (the first store has around here has since closed), but again, quite unimpressed...

Ha agreed. I live in a small town and we have 3 subways and only one is worth going to.

A what now??

In the UK we miss out on a lot of really interesting speedy snack the rest of the world have. We have sandwich shops. These are slowly discovering the variety of bread that can be had. They arent bad, but they arent great.

I have been to 1 subway, I had a Philly Cheese Steak type thing I think. Was nice but a whole 12" of sandwich is just tooooo much!
