Oh dear.... Just as I don't normally offer DNMC comments; I don't normally respond badly to postings made in forums, this is actually the first that has got to me....! Sometimes it really is just people having a conversation. |

Have you ever gone back thru a scores thread after the challenge is over and looked at what people entered in the challenge, and then reread the comments? I have, and it's an eyeopener at times. :-) Can't say that over the last 5 years or so here that I haven't made my own contributions. :-P |
Not always. Many times people are saying their point of view because they don't understand the entries and they're wondering if they missed something.
Also, Bear's right, there are definitely horizontal movie posters -- especially on buses. Yes, the typical is portrait, but there are definitely landscape. |

Ok-dokie. If you say so. (underline and bold in the following quote added by me for emphasis)

Jutilda is rocking this one- way to go! Me? A bit better than my recent history, but still only OK. At least I am above 5.0- haven't seen that in a little while.
If you want high scores, you want easy to digest eye candy photos usually. Think magazine photos- article or advertising shots- those are what people understand to be "good" and will vote accordingly.Do something they are less familiar with and they will be uncertain how to vote on it. It is a popularity contest- you have to appeal to the masses. A creative, well crafted picture will not necessarily score well. Get bold colors and it might. I have't been using as much color in recent entries and that may have an impact on the scores.
I dont' see how anybody could have any DNMC photos in this one since it is wide open and basically a free study. Shoe horning? Sure, some will be more effective as a movie poster than others but they all could be used as a poster in some way- and coming up with a title with the initials DPC is not that easy. Do we vote on its effectiveness as a poster or on the quality of the shot itsef? I think I will include some of both when I cast my ballots. I think this would have been more interesting if text was allowed (like the music album cover challenge a while back). That would have forces some to focus more on the "poster" side of the challenge.

Certainly I'm taking a particular position, but what part of it (or any of the thread) leads you to think that it goes beyond conversion and strays into an attempt to influence?
I'm not having a go or anything - just curious. |

Lots and lots and lots of DNMC in this one.
It was tough. I had an idea, but couldn't find a prop I needed. It seems most took it as a DPC acronym challenge instead of attempting the movie title thing. |

I will not be giving lower votes for the freestudy shots with a DPC title, as too many members have taken that approach and I would have an average vote of 3.1 if I called them all DNMC. I will however, be adding pointage for those entries that appear to have a title that sounds like a movie and an appropriate image to illustrate it. |
Wow... Voting to protect your average score given??? Wow. |

Well, I disagree, having worked in a video store a long time...
There are horizontal, postcard-sized, etc. PROMOTIONAL items, but NOT posters. Posters are typically 3'x2', vertically oriented. Lots of other promotion items, but they would not be called posters. |

No, actually I was giving the benefit of the doubt, especially since calling something a DNMC for this challenge is extremely subjective. Not too sure anymore, but I won't be voting until later in week, so I have time to consider it.
Starting to see some love for my own entry.

Got my Paulbtlw comment. Positive remarks on both of the aspects of the entry that I was concentrating on. Thanks for the commenting effort Paul.

These clearly are DNMC. They all deserve a 1
There are not that many horizontal ones on a quick search, but there are some, so Hawkeyelonewolf's comments are a bit mistaken |

Since the TITLE is an integral part of this MOVIE POSTER CHALLENGE, I think it has to be a combination of both a great image AND one that has a title suitable for a movie theme/title.
