on my quest for new SD cards this morning, I went to Walmart and as I walked in, I could see the eye exam area was a little foggy and some workers were looking at each other like they didn't know what to do.. so, I was on my way to a photo shoot and needed a card, so I booked it back to the photo dept and got one, then started to browse around and of course, within 2 minutes they evacuated the store... Since I had my camera, I snapped a bunch of shots and submitted them to our local news channel.. I'll see if they run the story tonight.. We're a small town so stuff like our local Walmart catching fire is big news around here.. :-).. I just love having my camera with me at the right time and being in the right place..

Would be nice if the news station paid you enough for the pics to cover the SD cards. Um, you remembered the Sd cards, didn't you?

Yeah, I had to hall ass back to the photo area though and hurry up & buy them.. Luckily, since they are so pro-active with their loss prevention, they make you pay for those "big ticket" items right then & there.. So, I was able to get that & move on.. I did need a few extension cords though and was on my way to get those when they announced we had to leave..

As for the fire, it was in the front.. The entire eye exam area was filled with smoke when I walked in.. So, I knew it was going to be an issue, but I REALLY needed that card... It's funny though, the eye exam area was filled with smoke, people were still filing in, ONLY two workers were standing around just kinda looking at eachother like they were waiting for someone to do something.. lol.. Now that I look back, I should have turned right around and walked out and went to best buy which is only two stores down, and NOT on fire.. I had to go to the photo shoot within 15 minutes of taking these shots so I couldn't hang around and wait for the heaps of smoke to come billowing out.. I'll know tonight when we watch the news if the images made it..

It must be contagious! I was at a newly-opened movie theater this afternoon, and I took my daughter to see "Where the Wild Things Are." The movie was probably just 10 minutes from being over and all of a sudden it stops, the lights come up, and we hear WOOOOOP WOOOOOP WOOOOOP! And a recorded message telling us to evacuate due to a possible fire.

Well, ultimately there apparently was no fire, but they couldn't figure out how to turn the system off, so we never did see the end of the movie. At least you got to see smoke! ;)
