I have another image in for rejection submitted. I've spent considerable time on 1X this week, what a fantastic collection of work.

eta: oops, question already answered a few posts earlier.

Indeed. I too have signed up for an account there, and some of the work is stunning...

I submitted my sole ribbon winner for consideration... sadly they rejected it. Oh well, I will try something else next week.

The only images i've had accepted have been DPC ribbons. Go figure. ????

The opposite for me. All the images that do well here for me, tank over there.

I wish I had an open slot because I think I have a shoo-in.

Haha. I know what you are talking about... My entries seem to be failing of late. Given the responses here, I'm not sure if that is a good or a bad thing :)

Can I send mine to you? Admittedly, I rarely feel that my stuff works at 1x.

Too much color. :) I suffer the same problem. Maybe I'll head over and try to cram some hues down their throat again...

I confess...I'm a complete spineless guppy...I refuse to submit my one and only ribbon to 1x...I just can't do it!

Since I only have one...it's rather special to me and I just think a 1x rejection would crush my already fragile artistic spirit...;-)

I think it's more about style. A lot of people there do similar work to mine...or something near to it so, they might have a greater appreciation or feel for my work. People here, generally don't tap in they way they do over there.

My Nude Ribbon doesn't stand a chance over there. Not worth wasting a slot or even the little effort it would take to post it for screening. It would be a joke. Comparatively speaking the nude work over there is way beyond me...or at least what I have done so far.

nude
nude
nude

...any of those would have easily out-ribboned me in a heart beat.

Hmmmmm...I love how you have separate portfolios each geared towards your audience. That's smart because you widen your audience whilst at the same time showing off your versatility...that makes a whole lot of good sense...;-)

Published! Different crop, but nearly the same.

I have a pretty decent sense of what will fly over there with a few surprise rejects but more important is to know what will tank. Like here at DPC after a while, you get a good sense of what will break a 6, let's say but on the flip side, you kinda know what will unquestionably get killed by the voters. Then again, there are always surprises...

Not to sound so sure but it's pretty clear what they like and that's not to say I have what they like BUT I kind of have a feel when I'm close, even if they do get rejected. Keep in mind it could all depend on the flow of folks screening during the period you put something up. It's possible two days later the exact same image might get in...who knows?

should've used the zoom. Give him a print of the photo and call it square.

my latest reject

(an old shot which I thought could sneak in over there, but alas...)

I'm so happy to see this bublished... I loved it in the challenge and of course I instantly voted "publish" when I saw it in screening on 1x...

Likewise, not one of my DPC ribbons would score there, the two I've tried were rejected in hrs....! I don't think I've even tried since.... Totally different audience. On saying that, the stuff I've had published there I doubt would do well here.....

I think their average members have been around the block a few times more than the average DPCer and have seen a lot of the standard stuff so many times, they're much harder to impress. People there have been shooting for years and years...way back to the ancient days of film. lolol

Your Bamboo Graffitti shot has a good chance at publishing. It's unique and that counts for a lot.

I think common shots...like shoreline seascapes or landscapes need more than bizarrely over saturated colors to get by.
Creative toning or something unique has to be going on to get their attention.

Here's another where the delicate toning shifs make the image a stand-out. It's interesting how the greens work like warming tones.

I think this point has been already made earleir in this thread, bit still.. aside from the technical level (which on average is undoubtedly much higher over there) the big difference is that voters on this site highly appreciate good quality commercial stuff (what you use in advertizements), and 1x audience shuns it completely. So their gallery mostly features photos you might see in art galleries, not in mail-order catalogs. This is not to say that there are no great artistic photos on DPC, of course :)

There is truth to this, but on the other hand I see the same themes come up over and over on 1x. So it's six-of-one and half-a-dozen of the other.

this is true - I get frustrated there too seeing the same (nice) idea recycled over and over and over again by some of their star contributors.

Good comments buddy, i tried the Bamboo shot as I to thought it was kinda unique and "sublime", however, no go;
"Of those who voted against your image, four indicated that there is a problem with impact, three noted story as a weakness and three selected technical quality as a reason for not publishing the image"

I am thinking of doing something with my "Straight" ribbon Winner

as I think it has potential....

This is the first link.

...and the second.

Again, related to toning.

Not true - I've submitted several "3rd world" portraits with zero published to date. They still need to be good.
