I'm back from NYC and had a fantastic time. 2 Broadway Shows, David Letterman Show (the one where he made the confession about being blackmailed), Central Park, the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, Empire State Building, top of Rockefeller Center, Times Square, shopping (including the B&H superstore) and more. The weather was great and one unexpected, exciting thing that happened was that we met Dustin Hoffman on the street!

We were walking down Central Park West just after taking pics of the Dakota where John Lennon lived and was shot. We were going to cut across Central Park in a few blocks. We passed 3 people talking on the sidewalk and Joe looked back and said "that's Dustin Hoffman". I was carrying my camera (of course) and zoomed in to take a pic of him (I wasn't that close). Dustin Hoffman looked up and said "How are you doing?" and then asked if we'd like a picture taken with him. Of course we said yes!!! He walked towards us and said "you got 20 bucks?". We laughed and got our photo taken with him. I told him I liked his last movie "Last Chance Harvey". He said "oh you saw it? Only people of our generation went to see that movie" (hmmmm, I'm not as old as him! LOL). I said we liked it because it was filmed in London and we were in London last year on vacation and were familiar with the sites. He said "it's lovely there, did you walk along the embankment?" I said yes, our hotel was in that area. Then he got ready to leave and he said "If you were Jewish I'd wish you a Happy New Year". And then he left. The doorman at the building next door was watching, he was just a young guy and he said "great timing" and I asked if he lived nearby and the doorman said he lived in that building. I agree, great timing!! It was wonderful that he was so nice and stopped to make time for us, and he spoke to us first! I would imagine stars can get tired of getting recognized all the time but he was very, very nice and chatty.

Here's the pic I took of him, I'll share more NYC photos when I get some edited (I took over 2100).

Hey Karen, glad you had such fun - and yep, most celebrities love to be treated like real people as opposed to celebrities. And talk about timing!

Awesome timing!! I can't wait to see more NYC photos. I hope to make it up there someday. Sounds like you had a great time!

He's still a nice guy! A friend of mine was his understudy on "The Graduate" and so it came to pass that I house-sat Dustin's apartment while it was being filmed. Does that date me or what?

Take a look at Quigley's home page. His son was in Mr Magorium's Magick Emporium, so Max's profile pic is of Isaac and Dustin :-)

Well let's just say that I was 1 year old when The Graduate was filmed. LOL

What an awesome adventure. To me, going to the brick & mortar B&H would almost match meeting Dustin Hoffman.

I'm so jealous. I never meet anyone cool. Just some toothless redneck that moved to Alaska while running from the law. :(

that scene in Midnight Cowboy where the cab almost hits him, that was an accident during filming. He improvised his entire response without ever breaking character... and now that's the most famous moment in the movie. The man's a genius.

Uhmmm....correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that like 98% of all people who move to Alaska? The Kate Shugak series seems to indicate that :-)
