The least they could have done was clear the mic so we could have heard what they were saying.

Blue Moon, They provided this link stating that he had an avalung (which helps you breathe after being buried by an avalanche).

I had seen at one time there was a technology where the suit you we wearing had inflated and turned you into somewhat of a bubble that rides on top of the avalanche. The Avalung is brilliant but only works if you put it on. That is the clincher as most times the trauma of falling prevents this from happening. Lots of guys will ski with the Avalung in their mouth because of this concern.
