State of Play 6/10 - Reasonably good story, fairly suspenseful, a few believability issues, but I deducted 2 points for the use of a BADLY photoshopped army photo with Ben Afleck's character's head pasted in and the photo was shown repeatedly and was crucial to the plot. I tried to find the image on the web, but couldn't.

August Rush - 100 out of 10.

seriously, although I know on an intellectual level that this movie did nothing but play me like a sap-filled violin the entire time, I couldn't care less. This movie transcended, and left me weepy and with an aching heart. There's a scene where the main character starts playing a guitar for the first time, and his smiling and laughter is filled with such strength and emotion that you simply... believe. No matter how ridiculous the premise.

Avalon is a "Japanese" movie directed by Oshii Mamoru. //en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mamoru_Oshii

The animation "Ghost in the Shell" directed by him is one of my favorite. I give it 9/10.

Sunshine

Excellent production, and very good acting, could have had a better screenplay, but the star of this film were the actors and the awesome directing 7/10 since im considering how bad science fiction movies have gotten, and I mean real sci fi, not fantasy or superhero films.

Funny People.
Rating - 3/10

I knew nothing about this movie except for the fact I recognised the actors who were well known comedian actors and the film sponsered a TV comedy channel in the UK.
It was not funny ( unlike Knocked up were a lot of the actors were in previously )

The acting was weak.

The script poor.

It was neither touching or interesting and we walked out 40 minutes into the movie.

Worst movie I have seen in years.

Final Destination 4 - 3d
nicely bloody and the 3d helped the shock factor of the film a lot! ;-)

Inglorious Basterds
tipically tarantino, so could you not like it...?

Clerks
possibly one of the best low budget movies. kevin smith as silent bob, all b&w, funny dialogues!

Thanks to Netflix streaming via xbox I have watched a lot of movies as of late:

Swimming Pool - a female murder mystery writer goes to her publishers house in the south of france to be alone and work on a new novel, but is surprised by the publishers daughter showing up. She then becomes part of her own plot line essentially. Pretty decent. Ton of nudity (some good, some bad, but mostly good) and a very HIGH TENSION-esque plot. 8/10 (extra point for hot chick naked)

American Zombie - A mockumentary about zombie culture in America, and how they live among us, and some are even high functioning and hold jobs and are able to think. Follows the documentary makers as they film and go to the annual Zombie gathering - LIVE DEAD. Pretty funny stuff. 7/10

Pride and Glory - NYC cop family, typical good cop bad cop stuff. At one point Colin Ferrell punches a lady in the face and snatches up her infant child, puts him on an ironing board and is holding a hot iron inches from its face. Badddd dude. Not really sure how I felt about the ending, but overall, pretty bitchin flick. 9/10.

Pervert - Im not sure if Troma was involved with this, but its right up thier alley. Tons of pornstars in this movie about a shy boy who goes to spend his summer off from college with his deranged father. His elderly father dates porn star Mary Carey until her unexpected dissapearance. In fact, all of the girls his father dates, the son sleeps iwth, and then they dissapear. Youll be quite shocked when you find out what happens to the girls and who the culprit is. Horrible movie, tons of porno chicks, funny ending - 5/10

Good movie, but also one of the most over hyped movies of our generation.

I disagree. I can still watch Clerks today and laugh pretty constantly. It remains one of Smith's best, and easily outdistances more high-budget blockbusters of the day. 'over-hype' is a tough term to quantify anyway. Anyone that doesn't like something that was well liked by a lot of people can use 'over-hyped' with impunity. I mean, Titanic was over-hyped to me, but DAMN was it popular, and to the people that loved it, it's nowhere near over-hyped.

Ya know, I loved "Jay and Silent Bob strike back" but still never saw "Clerks"...I tried to watch it a few times, I guess the low budget threw me off..

Anyways...just saw "Phenomenon" Starring John Travolta and Robert Duvall, excellent movie..8/10.

We're a little slow, but watched "Swing Vote" the other day! Kevin Costner did an excellent job in that movie and there were quite a few 'laugh out loud' moments in the film. Made you think ( a little), but was very funny! 8/10

Great cast of characters, too!

No I know what you are saying, Clerks is a pretty awesome movie, but the reason its awesome is because its different. Its a black and white film with no name actors and is essentially about nothing. Ive watched it dozens of times and I love it, but for the most part, I think people give it a lot more credit than it deserves.

It was kind of everyones first indie flick if that makes sense.

I'm in the middle of watching "The No.1 Ladies' Detective Agency" season 1, on Netflix. I've loved all the books and the Shotime series is just great. 10/10

Last nights movie:

TEETH - a comedy/horror about a young girl saving herself for marriage, but finds out upon being sexually assaulted that she has a rare/mythological condition: vagina dentate (you can wiki that! haha) This is a movie that wives should make thier husbands watch under the banner of "this is what might happen if you ever cheat on me" Guys, be prepared to cringe. 8/10

Management 6/10 - While the initial connection of the two main characters was beyond any stretch of believability (and gives false hope to creepy motel night managers), the rest of the movie was pretty entertaining.

Nothing but the Truth 6/10 - Typical Hollywood plot. Well acted. No real surprises except the one at the very end which made it interesting.

Everything is Illuminated

10/10

I've seen this before but I watched it again a few a days ago. I loooove it. One of the leads (Eugene Hutz) is the singer from one of my top five all time favorite bands, Gogol Bordello. And even though he's not an actor he played the part amazingly. I can't say enough good things about this film. It's touching and really funny. I'm not usually one for touching/thought provoking movies but the humor keeps me interested.

The Brothers Bloom 7/10 - Very entertaining.

Windtalkers, one of the movies on Hulu. About the unbreakable Navaho code used in WW2. Slightly educational, very violent. Although the story dragged at times, Nicolas Cage put out a good solid performance, 8/10 because it was free..

The Diving Bell and the Butterfly (Le Scaphandre et le papillon) 11/10

A very powerful (and true) story, amazing camerawork. I can't say enough good things about this movie.
