I would've searched for it if I knew what to search for, so here I am asking for help.
I use a Nikon D300!
Got a group shot coming up, and I recently won a netbook (the small computers), so I was thinking about options for transfering photos to the computer right away. Is capture NX my only option? I don't need to operate the camera or compose the photo on the computer, I just want the images to get there shortly after I press the shutter. Anyone know what I mean? I looked at some wireless options, but I don't mind the wire.
To make it simple... I set the camera ON the camera, press the shutter, photo is going through a cable to my pc, I can see the photo on the pc.
Is this possible? |

You're speaking (I believe, if I understand your post correctly) about tethered shooting or tethering.
Capture NX does not support tethering -- You'd need Nikon Capture Control Pro 2 for that.
There are several other (less expensive) options as well. I personally use and recommend DIY Photobits Camera Control - also discussed in a previous thread.

| They only make the Eye-Fi card in an SD version, but I wonder if perhaps someone else makes a similar CF card. |

Yes, tethering, that was what I needed I think. I had NO idea that it was called that... Thank you ever so much! Just made my photographing day easier =) |

Ive done this just by tethering and letting windows do the work. I didn't use any additonal software, just changed the setting on my camera for the connection type (I forget what that setting was though)
I would shoot and the images would save directly on the laptop and I could view right there. Made it much easier since I was on a "job" and I could show them the images as they occurred to make sure I was getting what they needed. |
