For any Nikon (and other camera) users not wanting to buy Nikon Capture just to get tethered shooting (automatic image transfer to PC after taking the image) have a look here.

Great little piece of software, allows you to control the exposure setting, release the shutter and then automatically transfers the image to the PC. Latest version also does time lapse images.

I also have adobe lightroom set up to automatically import the image, so I can see the histogram. The diyphotobit tool is sufficient if you just want to see the image.

NICE FIND!

For those like me who don't like digging through pages of blogs, here is the software download page.

Also, here is a nice article by Matt Kloskowski reviewing how to set up LR to auto-import (with a couple of handy tricks I hadn't thought of).

Took me about 2 minutes to get up and running -- it's quite nice!

For those wondering -- yes, it does support "you pushing the shutter" (vs. full-time remote control). Most of the blog entries (the ones I bothered to read through at least) give the impression that the software is solely for remote control; but it works just fine as a simple tether transfer agent as well.

I'll say it again -- VERY, VERY NICE FIND!

Thanks for sharing, quite useful.

I actually downloaded Nikon's SDK. If you are into a bit of programming, you can write some neat apps using it. I have just been too lazy to try:-)

If I didn't already have Camera Control Pro 2 I'd check this out.

Does any one know of any problems they are having with this program. I installed in onto my laptop with is running vista pro and it seemed to install fine but it won't load.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
