Anyone play the DiRT 2 demo?
The actual driving is fun, but jesus christ, Colin McRae must be turning in his grave. They've turned the whole experience into a chavved-up monstrosity! The stupid guys who talk to you in the "menus" and the annoying music and the whole atmosphere is shit. They're vehicles, not "Rides". And as far as ACTUAL rally goes, there are only 5 events in the game. Croatia, Morocco, Baja, Malaysia and China. No Japan? No UK? No Germany? No Finland? No Sweden? Complete sell-out to mainstream gamers. If I wanted that kinda crap I'd go watch Pimp My Ride or play Juiced 2. Hill climbs? None. Instead we get "Smash as many gates as you can"-mode and "Don't touch the opponent or you explode!"-mode.
I'm still buying it but I'm very disappointed in the direction it's headed. I hope there is a WRC licensed game around the corner or console rally racing is officially dead.

Unfortunately, North American gamers (and populace in general) aren't as into rally racing as british/european/asian/rest of the world. In fact, outside of the hard-core fans and the racers themselves, I bet the majority of North Americans couldn't even tell you what Rally Car means.
So, yah, DiRT wasn't a well selling game here, and with DiRT 2, they have to try and promote some interest in the genre among people that simply don't care. Unfortunately, that means taking a piss on true fans. |

I can't defuse the stupid bomb in the theater, even on easy! It blows up almost as soon as I get there

thats vegas 2 no? the theater is a tough one. got to use a silenced sniper - and do all the work yourself - or they come in droves. if i remember - tell your team to hold. if you snipe silent - they stay backstage - i think there is only 5 or 6 to start with. once they hear you and come out from backstage - there is no way to diffuse the bomb.
then once you diffuse the bomb - they come out from backstage ( right i think )

has anyone successfully connected a wireless xbox headset to a PC w/o the microsoft gaming receiver ?
my wifi dongle doesn't seem to pick it up.

I send my team in to take out the guy on the catwalk through the first door, then at the same time enter through the far door and take out the guys on the upper tier of the seats, rope down, send my team towards the stage and then work my way forward. You have to keep moving and get a lot of 1 shot kills, but it's more than doable. |

I think the head sets work on Bluetooth, not Wifi. I know I've heard guys talk about using cell phone headsets instead of the X-box headsets. |

Nothing on the 360 works with Bluetooth. That's the PS3. The XBox headsets are wifi. However, it's a proprietary MS wifi (based on a radio frequency from what I can find out).

i meant to say bluetooth... oops
i havent had any luck with the wireless...
got an adapter for the wired headset. mic works, havent had a chance to test the ear phone though. ( 2.5mm female >> 3.5mm male into a 3.5mm female to male Y ). they didnt have it in one piece.

| So who picked up Beatles: Rock Band? This is a really cool game. All the songs I remember, only a couple I don't. I'll have to work my skillz a bit before joining anyone online as it has been a while for me and rock band. I got Blisters on me fingers. |

I should have had it delivered yesterday but the postman didn't ring the doorbell and put a note through the door telling me to pick it up! Grr!
I'll have it tonight though.
I don't really know a lot about the Beatles. I know a few of their songs and they seem quite happy-go-lucky and cheesy-poppy, but 500 billion people can't be wrong so I thought I'd give them a proper go.
Also getting DiRT 2 tomorrow, and Katamari in a sale. What a weird game!

I ordered it yesterday, Have to wait for it to arrive at my old neighbors house then she is going to ship it over to me in New Zealand.

I haven't tried the drums yet, but the guitar was pretty easy as I expected. As a non-Beatles fan I was definitely pleasantly surprised at a lot of the later songs in the game (in the recording studio) having not heard a lot of them before. Fun fun! The way the whole game is put together is just so.... nice. I don't know how to explain but its such a nice experience playing it!
Let's get a band together sometime :)

One day after owning the Beatles rock band, I should have stuck to my instincts and just rented the game.
Don't get me wrong, it a beautifully presented game and does justice to the Beatles in every aspect.
I just don't see much replay value here, other than some More Beatles DLC, and a friends leaderboard.

stupid pre-order didn't ship on time. we won't have it until monday. you'd think with a pre-order they would ship it so you'd have it on release day. i mean what's the point of pre-ordering... ?

double foot pedal for rockband...
take a head phone splitter, and plug two foot pedals into it. works unless you have one foot pressed while using the other pedal.
will post vid once jess gets the hang of it...
