I just purchased a house (good), but this house is in a new subdivision that does not have cable ran to it and the cable company has no immediate plans to run lines to it anytime soon (bad). Which in turn means it's very hard to enter challenge here on DPC right now (again bad)! Just when my scores started to rise and I was learning so much. I will hopefully get some shots for an upcoming challenge and use a friends computer to upload them. Such a pain to do though.

I looked up info on satelite interent and air cards from Cingular, hughsnet, direct TV, and Verizon. The satelite is very expensive for just 1Meg service and the air card's are about the same price and they only offer a 5 gig limit which means I can't stream my Netflix movies without paying out the ass. All these service's are around $75.00 a month when I was paying $55.00 for 5 Meg service through the cable company before I moved. This sucks.

I went through this very same issue for a while.....had dialup for the first two years I was at DPC.

You can get the challenge entries to upload, but if you have to upload an original to validate, you'll have to go to work or an Internet cafe, or friend's house.

I do not miss having to wait for five minutes for a 200KB file to upload......8>(

Does the phone company offer DSL service in the area?

Yeah shot myself in the foot on that one. Couldn't pass up the deal though. I moved from a 500 SQ. FT apartment to a 2000 SQ FT. house.

Unfortunantly not. I will have to eventually go with Hughsnet I'm thinking. Does anyone know if 1Meg service can stream something like Netflix good?

Louis, maybe go door to door, if enough people express interest in cable you might change their (the cable company) minds.

that's a good idea. I might have to wait to they complete more of the houses in the subdivision though.
