I don't do it all that often, but when I do feel compelled to comment negatively, I get smacked. Very likely my own fault though, as I'm terrible at giving unemotional feedback. So, I try to stick mainly to those images that make me genuinely happy. Which is as Andi says, "everything blurry and bendy". Hopefully then, making a dick of myself is kept to a minimum ;)
If you can manage it Juliet without too much trouble (the critical commentary, not the being a dick), good on ya! |

well i am hoping i am not being a dick. But then again, if I was , at this moment with these pills, I couldn't care less.
If I say something I shouldn't be saying or you don't like, then tell me and i will delete it happily.
Because I am not myself, I can not touch, smell , feel or any of that crap right now.
SO you have 21 days of these pills and me to go through, or less depending on when and what the biopsy's results come back,
take advantage of it, that is what i would do, to see it from someone with complete detachment. |

I have not commented on anyone else photos that have NOT been put in this thread. People that do put them in this thread will getg a comment, that can be deleted if need be. But you have to stick a shot in here |

Maybe I didn't phrase that properly Juliet? I meant when people who have not seen this thread see your comment on an image (which was requested) and might think you were a bit harsh on the shot. Also, if you put a link back to here with your comment other folks might be able to follow your honest critiques :)

I think this may be a healthy process for both parties ... I think I will post only photos from the bottom of the results pile. ;-)

Juliet - thank you very much for your comment. I quite enjoyed it and think it brings up some great points. I think I will go back when I have a free moment and try to re-edit the same photo to see if I can make it "pop"
i think your experiment is wonderful - everybody's emotions are different, and therefore result in different opinions of photos. But by removing the emotion all together, you are able to pick apart the core of the photo - the technical aspects that make or break a photo. I do appreciate what you are doing and for taking all the time to give some very thorough, thoughtful comments. I will comment some more on your photos in return and I think others should return the favor as well.

Let me state again, I am not trying to be mean, or hurtful, but I am not sugar coating things.
I am finding it totally fascinating the things I see when I feel nothing towards any art. You get past that gooey, soft awww moment it is all sweet and cuddly and you see things that you never would have.
It is like someone saying, here is a black box, but all you see is around the black box and the things that people normally don't see or comment on. I am finding this whole thing very informative for MY photography too.
Ecce, is an interesting, normally i would look at it and go , it is crap on a stick, out of focus, centered wrongly, bad coloring, but the more you look at it through my eyes , i see the man in the street that you meet every day but not remember 2 mins later.
same with KD's niece, it wasn't about her at all, it was about the soft curving velvety waves of black that surrounded her that brought this picture to an almost exotic 17th century culture,
Art is about emotion, that is what it is. You connect with it on some level, pleasure, sexual, revulsion etc . I am not connecting to any of it, i am seeing other things.
