I wanted to enter the PWL challenge and as usual there was total chaos for the entire week, stuff around the house needed fixing, kids were screaming, dinner needed cooking, the back door to my house froze shut, had to work late. Every second of any time that I could have possible used to experiment and play with PWL to create a good image was reallocated by necessity to some other purpose. That's OK, I can accept that, it's just life.

It's what happened the night of the deadline that has me all riled up. Basically, I had a couple hours to myself after dinner and decided to play around with PWL. After trying a few things, I had some results that were promising, but certainly not to the point where I'd show them off. Lo and behold, it's 11:30pm, so I download the images, do some quicky PS and submit it to the challenge. WHY WHY WHY did I do this??? MY SHOT IS AWFUL AND I KNEW IT!!! But I submitted anyway. Have I become so addlepated in my middle age that I could do something sooo stupid. I've done it before so it's not just a one time thing!!! ARRRRGHHH!!!!

I guress that I need to be more vicious and rigorous in my self editing.

OK, Rant over.................Thanks if you read this far.

Sometimes it's good just to find out if others also find it "promising." With a one-week deadline, and circumstances such as you describe, I don't always find it either possible or necessary to submit a completely "finished" photo to these challenges. Sure, the numeric score for a "draft" version may not be as high as for a finished photo, but the feedback may help you end up with a better image in the end.

I've done that before now - I totally understand. It's the addiction you know - that unbearable thought that you'll have no reason to click 'Update' during the week!

What about the fact that the update button won't even be there! *gasp*

I have the bad habit of putting off the processing until the last minute then kicking myself in the butt for rushing it and then noticing everything I missed afterwards.

:)

I'm getting better at it.

And I submitted to the Chinese Zodiac. First challenge since June. Looks like we're getting our New Years resolutions in order. :)
