I shall. I probably hit a few during voting, too. I think for the moment, though, I shall load up gear and go pigeon hunting... :-) No guarantees but by gosh I gotta try!

No pigeon shots and kinda sad. Not just because I can get pigeon shots any other time of the year other than the week there's a pigeon challenge... but because while trying to get a pigeon shot, three young boys, probably 8-12 years old, were stomping down the day lilies. And I mean into the ground.

They were playing some sort of game, though I know not what the objective was, and their parents were sitting in full view of them, watching all the while as they stomped the lilies to the ground. Kinda sad.

What idiots!! the parent's I mean. The kids are what you'd expect with such stupid parents.

That's so weird.....

I love lilies, but for some odd reason, I haven't really shot any this year.

Today, for some unbeknownst reason, I felt obliged to shoot a few.

Here's one for you, Deb....

This Old Field
for Karen

This old field was here before the war.
They say it was a cemetery once,
but nothing like a bone̢۪s been dug up for
as long as I̢۪ve been living. Kids who hunt
for arrowheads have better luck. It seems
the natives liked this spot for settlin̢۪ in.
Creek̢۪s not far away. The current teems
with salmon, even today. I see their fins
break water like they̢۪re little sharks, eager,
strong, relentless, like the creek itself,
as you can see from here. No ghosts, no meager
regrets of what̢۪s been lost. It̢۪s just a shelf
of meadow with good sightlines every side,
where stubborn thistle flowers scratch the sky.

It is with a heavy heart that I report to you that G.G. has now left her crew. Sunday after noon around 4:30pm Great Grandmother Archer saw fit to leave our loving hands and move on to be

with her husband gone these 40+ years. They now dance together once more. Living with cancer for the past 12 years and finally being overtaken by it, her passing in her final day was

fast and peaceful. Kay Archer lived to be 96 and was the proud mother of three, my mother-in-law Caroline and her husband K. Lynn Lambert. Their children, my wife Janet-Lynne, me Max, and

our children, Caleb and Isaac Durnford and their son Geoff Lambert. John her son and his wife Barb and their two sons, Ryan and his wife Malissa and their daughter Kaitlyn and one on the

way, and Paul Archer. Phillis and her husband Gerry and their three children, Denise, Steven and his daughter Makahlia, and Julie Topp. Great Grandmother Kay will be missed by all her
family and friends.

Don - perfect poem for that picture. Or just by itself, actually, but the picture adds quite nicely.

Max, bittersweet news. She was a grand woman from all you've told and shown us, and her legacy will shine on in all of you. My condolences and, oddly, my congratulations for having had such a wonderful person in your life.

REALLY nice work on the flowers, folks!! I very much enjoyed visiting the Team Suck entries, most of which I remembered from the challenge. And I still do feel mine, while a nice flower picture, was overrated. Only fair to point out the overrated ones - balances out one or two of the underrated ones perhaps.

I'd also like to point out that several Team Suckers added new entries to their personal top rows, including one new Personal Best!

New Personal Best for quiet_observation

New top row (2nd!) for krnodil

New top row for emerkaza

New top row for cosprenks

Also note that Mary, Karen, and Cecilia had top 20 challenge finishes, too.

I was fooled by the highly disingenuous "Be unique and creative so you can stand out from the crowd!" that was included in the challenge description for flowersxx. If anyone took that seriously then the posthumous entry would be hovering around the front page...

Wow, thanks! Quite appropriate, on both fronts. [for those not in the know, it ties in with my last name]

And it's a sonnet, too. Follows all the rules. I am the LalliSig of poetry.

Just popping in to say that I'll likely be missing in action for a while - a longish while likely.

Our little angle Jessie was born at 3:30 this morning, weighing only 3.9oz.
Her heart had stopped beating several day / weeks earlier.

How awful. My condolences, Lea.
