...have I went to far on the HDR and tone mapping of this photograph. Or do you think it's within reason.

it looks ok if you are aiming for that "poster-ish" look
as a photograph, honestly i think it looked a little over-processed. |

I love it. I'm not big on huge sky gradients that come as a byproduct of HDR, but that's more of a preference issue. The rest is perfect. |

Looks good Scott. I'd suggest maybe knocking down that ethereal glow around the front & top of the train (in the sky). IMO, that would pull it completely back from any "over-the-top" question. :O) |
