I really should have re-thought entering my flower shot.
A flower shot with a 55-200mm lens is NOT a great idea.

Not if you're a donkey. In the donkey world, big ears are like big, umm, well, you know... I'd say Maise will be a hit.

Hello Guys n Gals.
I just thought I'd check in between vacation preparation. Nine days and counting. I'm beginning to quiver with excitement. This vacation has been on our "to do" list for 35 years. Yeeeeaaaaaahhhhhhhh.

Hey Jeanne - sounds good! Get everything ready, check the gear twice (charger?? extra cards? card reader?), take enough underwear, then (and this is the most important part) don't stress!! Seriously, just go - experience, see, do. Don't worry that it's not perfect or stress if something isn't exactly right. Just enjoy whatever comes! And take lots of pictures, of course!

Hey thanks everyone. I have four batteries for my camera, and just got up to four for the video camera (they were delivered yesterday)!
I have lots of cards, and have a brand new (tiny) 500 meg portable hard drive. My two new lenses (thanks for the advice Deb), a tripod, a suction cup camera stabilizer, a small tripod. I did decide not to buy the monopod (with little tripod legs) which I wanted so bad but couldn't justify another big expense (very cool piece of equipment if anyone is interested).
Tonight is my night for charging every battery and clearing every card, and making sure all my camera stuff fits in my bag.
I have lists galore. I will not take my research books (only 10 or so), but I have been typing the important info on a document which will go on the laptop and as a printout. I'm with Deb ... when I go out the door I'm on an adventure and I will not stress. And I will post pics upon my return.
I do not have editing software for my laptop, so you'll have to wait until I get back home. Unless I can post a pic or two when I stay with Shutterpug.

Can't wait for my husband to get back from the week-long charity bike ride. He gets back and we leave three days later. The bike ride is going well. They are now on their way to the fourth city. Weather has been good, everyone has been safe, and its a great cause.

Put picasa on the laptop. It's free and will do some basic stuff for you, and will let you resize, etc.
