Could you guys give me a hand for a moment? I recently designed a web site for a local chain of supermarkets, and the site seems to be doing just fine from what I can tell.
But the owner just dropped me a note saying that he's getting an error message upon visiting the home page, telling him that "he's not authorized to use this script."
Additionally, he's saying he can't reach it with Netscape for some reason. I'm having no trouble here (no error, etc.), and I'm wondering whether his system might be infected with spyware or something.
I just wanted to ask you guys if you'd take just a moment to visit:
//www.communitysupermarket.com
...and let me know if you see anything behave strangely. I want to be sure to investigate it a bit before I suggest that spyware or something else might be an issue...
Thanks in advance! |

Viewed in IE, Opera and Netscape. All seem fine.
The only thing I can see is that the 'Special services' table lacks colour and is in a different font to the rest of the page, when viewed in netscape.

Well, that's what I was hoping for! I make every attempt to be a customer service oriented person, and if a customer has a problem (even in the middle of a Sunday) I like to get it nailed down for them.
Of course I don't know quite what the problem is, but I'm glad to see that it apparently isn't us.
And Tom... thanks for letting me know about the table color. I hate the way Netscape and IE can't seem to get along when it comes to style sheets...!

Works great with IE. That's some good prices. We seem to be ripped off here in San Francisco :P |

The only thing I can think of is that he might be using a browser that doesn't support javascript, or at least doesn't have it enabled. Ask him what browser he's using to view it, and if it's too old just point him to where he can download a new one.

I run netscape and it runs well.
The one thing I did notice is in the comparisons of the markets some of the lines are inconsistant. Most are white with a black line, however some are just white.
Looks great. |

Looks fine in IE6.
In Opera 7.1 (when not identified as IE) the photos on the main page are aligned left instead of center because Opera wants the table to have the align="center" instead of the DIV.
The special services table doesn't look right in IE or Opera because of the lack of borders in the cells where the service isn't offered. Simply putting a space " " solves that.

This works fine for me - Safari 1.1
Nice simple and effective. I like the feature that allows you to get directions to theior differrent branches and map.
Maybe he could try it on a computer at the library? |

Works fine in Safari and Mozilla too in Mac. The owner is probably using an old browser or his/her javascript is turned off in the preferences.
BTW, congratulations on your design. Very pleasing, fast download, and easy navigation. |

Thanks again for all the help and suggestions -- I have already added the tags in the table, and a few other little patches. I'll explore more later.
I should also say thanks to Gracious, who unknowingly inspired the image that appears at the top of each page of the site.
Way back in the first few weeks I was a member here, there was a "Fruits and Vegetables" challenge. I used that challenge as inspiration while I was designing this site. Gracious had this entry:
I used that as a basis for creating the arrangement of veggies for the shot I took for this site. |
