Specifically those listed on this page whose names aren't greened out. I know a few have valid reasons, but what about the rest of you? With only 40% response the book won't be close to what it could have been, and I know Andi and Tal have been working their butts off.
For those of you without a good excuse, I hope your consciences give you at least a little twinge. |

Sent, but never heard back. I just figured it wasn't fitting in well enough with the book. Talj, let me know. My feeling won't be hurt, I promise. |

I sent an image per amended instructions weeks ago, and have heard nothing. I have no idea if it has been received...

I ended up sending them three images to give them more choices and help them fill up the book. So those of you wonderful people who already submitted, if you have another image that might fit in, I am sure that sending a second one would help the effort tremendously. |

I said if I could come up with a fitting image, I would. I didn't come up with a decent image that says "hope" to me. Sorry. |

Its the first time I have heard of this, sorry to have disappointed you so much my friend. How about this, you look at my images and see if you like any of them for your cause.

I would love to have been able to come up with a suitable image for hope. Surely not a matter for smiting one's conscience; rather a cause for regret.

Yeah no reason to smite my conscience. I have enough on my conscience already.

This has got to be one of the rudest posts I have seen here in quite some time.

Well I dunno about that, but it is a little harsh considering it looks like there have been a lot of problems communicating back and forth about this project. I remember volunteering - if I recall I thought this was going to be a "look through my portfolio and pick anything you want and I'll send the hi-res image" but I could be wrong and I am notorious for not reading complete instructions. I haven't heard anything beyond that first thread though - I missed several subsequent threads apparently.
Anyway - I still would like to contribute - I think after reading several paragraphs from several threads on several websites now I think I have an idea of what you are looking for, but it still seems like the best way is for you to pick from my portfolio anything and I'll send in the full size image. I'll go ahead and look through my stuff as well and see if I can come up with anything though. |

I think I looked through my portfolio and posted a few in one of the discussion threads to get opinions on whether they were "suitable" or not.
One image for which I have a print posted but had somehow lost the original to a hard drive crash was sent by Langdon (from the DPC Prints repository). |

I had said that if they wanted any of the images in my portfolio here, they were welcome to use it. I assumed they would contact me if they found one they liked, and since they didn't, I assumed they didn't want one. |

Perhaps this thread can be compiled into an 'Excuses' chapter at the end of the book? |

The original idea was that people shoot an image specifically for the book of their take on hope, however, there have been requests to look through portfolios and I may well have missed them or just not had time to look...am only human folks and it's been a very busy time for me :(
If you want me to look through your portfolio and see if there are any images we could use send me a PM and I'll do it in the next couple of days. I'll PM each of you to let you know whether I have found anything suitable or not.
Ken and chromeydome, I will take a look through your portfolios now. |

Look through chromey's first - I'll email you a short list of ones I think you might like - will save you time - plus my portfolio can be disturbing. ;-) |

To those of you who were victims of communication, I apologise. To those of you who made a commitment then didn't bother fulfilling it, I don't.
Maybe I AM being rude, but Tal, whose own health is far from good, has put a lot of time and energy into this, deadlines have been extended twice, details of exactly what was needed were posted and I believe another member sent reminder PMs (though I'm not positive on that). I hate the thought that all her and Andi's work may end up for naught and that a worthy cause may lose out.
Wouldn't any of you be at least a little ticked if, say, you ran a marathon for charity and a full 60% of your sponsors didn't bother paying their pledges? |

I probably wouldn't survive a marathon, but I get your point. :) |

Art, that's pretty much why I chose that example; it's something very hard that not many of us would undertake lightly and would be a great accomplishment to pull off. I suspect that, for Tal, this hasn't been that far off of a marathon.
(Personally, I wouldn't make it a block, let alone 26 miles.... though I DID once do a 25-mile walkathon many, MANY years ago.) |

I'm not on the dreaded list :) I didn't sign up because I wasn't sure I would have time to turn in an image. I doubt I have any photos that could be used for hope, but feel free to grab anything from my portfolio if you like.
When is your deadline? Maybe I have something, or will be shooting something in the next week that may be of use... Keep us posted

So Talj is allowed to be human, but the rest of us aren't?
Expressing interest is not the same as making a commitment. I'd hoped to come up with a suitable image and failed. There's one in my challenge portfolio (the rookie fireman) I thought might work, but since it is a candid and I don't have a model release, I didn't think it was right for a book. |

I left my thoughts through PM to Talj in regard to my earlier post, I will leave it at that, but will say this is certainly the wrong way to go about things and is a very poor representation of Talj and Andi regardless if you are representing them or not, because it sure gives the impression that you are.

As I said in my OP, some have valid reasons. This thread is aimed at those who don't; they know who they are. I didn't even look to see who wasn't marked as having submitted.
eta after reading Matt's post. I never claimed to be representing anyone but myself.
